Is it normal that i rock back and forth?

I started doing it when I was younger. I would sit down, on a chair or on a couch, maybe even sit pretzel/Indian style on the floor. But no matter where or how I'm sitting, I find myself rocking back and forth. I don't even notice it anymore, but my friends do and they ask me if I'm okay. It's only when I'm consciously aware that I'm rocking that I try to stop. But when I do stop, it feels uncomfortable and I continue rocking again. I really don't know why I do this, but is it normal to have to rock when sitting down?

You should buy a rocking chair. Then it would be normal.

I do the same thing...my mom and dad thought it was ok when I was 4-6 but when I continually did it even in my older ages like 13-18 and I still do it today..I'm a collage student and my roommate and peers find me weird cuz I rock continually ...it pissed off my parents when I was 15 and still sit crisscross on the couch and rock .. my younger brother and sister couldn't stand it cuz the way the living room couches were setup they're not on a wall and when I rocked they'd move...but I still rock no matter what people say...

I shake my foot. Yours is a little weird but it's just a habit.

Thats a sign of feeling uncomfortable, worried, or stressed. Maybe take a minute to think through what it is that could be troubling you:)

I do this when I'm stressed or depressed. I think its my way to self soothe.
