Is it normal that i secretly got rid of my best friend's cat?

My best friend is also living in my house as a temporary roommate. Well it was supposed to be temporary but now she is pretty much just staying here. Which I don't mind because she does her fair share of paying for things.

What I did mind was her cat though. I asked her to keep it in her room but she always let him out before she went to work. He would terrorize my birds and constantly follow me around. I didn't want the cat in the first place but I love my best friend and I'd do anything for her.

I got so fed up last week though when her fucking cat killed one of my birds while I was gone at work. She was still home and I told her that because I wouldn't be there to keep an eye on him to PLEASE lock him up in her room before leaving. Well she didn't and I came home to find one of my birds missing and dead inside her bedroom by the cat's bed.

I was just so angry that I didn't know what to do so I grabbed him up and put him in a box. I took him out to my car and drove 10 miles out to the trail head where people go and ride their dirt bikes in the summer and just dropped him off and left him there.

When my friend got home later I told her that the cat ran out when I came in with the groceries and that I couldn't find him.

She's been out there for hours looking for him.

Instead of guilt I feel this odd sense of satisfaction. Is that normal?

Well done, we need more stray cats.

All he did was put a poor caged bird out of it's misery, now he will kill native birds on the daily.

You can't justify one evil with another. Go back to the forest and try and find the cat.

If what you have written is true, it says all anyone needs to know about you, someone to avoid.

It's your house, you told her to keep the fucking cat in her room and she disobeyed your rules. Now give her a bill for the bird the cat kllled and if she refuses to pay, take her ass to small claims court!

Poor cat, blame the owner, not the cat.

That's a really horrible thing to do! You could have just told your friend about how you didn't like her cat, or if you were going to get rid of it, you could have taken it to an animal shelter or something instead of leaving it to die slowly, starving and probably ill!

Guys, the cat killed her birds.

She asked her roommate to keep the cat locked up SEVERAL TIMES and the roommate didn't listen. Maybe she DID take all precautions; some cats are able to open certain kinds of cages. Also, my cat can open doors (either pushes on them or puts a paw under the crack and pulls.)

What she did was wrong yes, but think about if this happened to you. :/ Honestly, I wouldn't have done this, but I would have locked it up somewhere and threatened to take it to the pound.

Go try and find the cat. It's the least you can do.

That was very cruel, you're a crappy friend for getting rid of her beloved pet. I can understand being upset that the cat killed one of your birds, but don't put your friend through the same thing. She's obviously sad about losing her cat. Just wondering, how did the cat get the bird? He couldn't have got in the cage...maybe it wasn't locked and the bird got out?

a bird cage is genereally made of bars and cats are very thin it couldve reached in the cage and smacked it or grabed it with the claws and killed it .

I don't blame you from being mad because the cat killed one of your birds, but come on, we all know that birds are the most worthless pet to have. First of all, your bird cage should of been put up high so that nothing get to it including that cat. Go buy a cat that looked like hers, lol.

I know dozens of people who have done this but ... I bet she gets another one and if she gets a kitten things will be much worse!!

How did the cat get through the bird cage? And could the bird cage have been moved to another room with a door before this happened? Regardless, what you did was immature and cruel.

Why should he and his pets have to adapt to her stupid cats?

I see a different angle here - you did the cat a favor by giving it its freedom. lolz

That is so cruel. Are you really an amimal lover? I think that you are cruel to keep birds at home. A bird should be able to fly with freedom and do normal bird things. Birds in cages must be sooo sad.
Please, if you really care for your friend, tell her what you did to her poor cat. It was not doing anything wrong in its eyes and doesn't deserve to be maltreated and cut off from its owner :(
    Please find the kitty....
This story made me so sad for all the animals involved...

Honestly! If you loved her, why not tell her to occupy her cat better so it wouldn't bother your birds? Or you could've locked your door. It's all in a cat's instinct, It's understandable that you would be upset, but this is overdoing it to the extreme. You better go look for the cat and if you can't find it, place up one of those "lost kitty" flyers. If you never find it or you found out it was killed, the best thing you could do is to get her another cat as a secret apology.

I hate birds, what stupid pets they are. At least a cat you can play with.

However, my downstairs neighbor keeps her cat out in her tiny backyard; well, it gets bored and wants to come in so it meows very loudly every morning between 6 a.m. to 10. It is right outside my bedroom window. I don't need another alarm clock.

It is a cute cat though.

What you did was'nt right, but I can understand why you did it. I'd say go find the cat, but it's probably gone by now.

It's normal since we are all human. But really, was that really the right thing to do? But to answer your question it's normal but I would be guilty.
