When I'm upstairs in my room I like to read aloud and pretend as if there's an audience in front of me even though I'm just on my bed facing a wall...and sometimes raise my head as if someone has a question then keep reading aloud to the wall.
Do you do that too? Is it normal?
No, I've never done that. It sounds like good practice though - not everyone is good at it. Is there any particular reason why you do it?
I think the reason is because I memorize the story better, because sometimes I tend to not focus on the pages and I accidentally "read" 10 pages, then find out that I have no idea what had happened in the story. It also works well in studying, I think, when I read the facts and vocab out loud from the textbook.
No it's all in my head. I can make the characters sound different in my head than when i am reading loud.
I've done this to practice reading out loud/ memorizing and to make myself pay closer attention to what I'm reading.
I also listen to audio other people have uploaded as podcasts or to youtube of themselves reading out loud (yay audio books!) and there are a lot of those so I think it's pretty common.
I do this sometimes when I'm having a really hard time concentrating, like when the words just won't sink in. I have ADHD, though.
I do this, too, but only when I have to learn something. I can memorize things better when reading it out loud.
