Is it normal that i spell words in my head as i say them?

I do this too! Not exactly like you though. I spell out entire sentences of phrases sometimes the same ones over and over again and I group them into sets of three/four and if they don't fit the set exactly I make up extra letters/count spaces + punctuation otherwise I feel unbalanced. Is this OCD? 'cause i've been reading up on that and it doesn't seem to quite fit…but I do find it's all-consuming and can exhaust me sometimes. especially when I just want my brain to chill. I've tried so hard to stop but you know how brains can be; you tell it not to think about something and it does the opposite :/
P.S. I don't really know why but it all started when I read the Dan Brown book Digital Fortress, so stay away if you have compulsive tendencies!

Its stupid that I do it and its actually hard to focus on conversations sometimes. Lol!
