Is it normal to be in your 30's and spend all of your time hanging out at a local truckstop? I have a job as a principals assistant by day, and as soon as I get off work and on weekends I head over to the local truckstop. I've never driven a truck but I like hanging out there. All of the employees know me by name and some give me weird looks. Is this normal?

    It is normal if you live in a small town and there is nothing else to do. Some of the nicer truck stops have Taco Bells, which I happen to like. It is great having toilets so close to the Taco Bell!!!

    What an awesome night. Went to the truckstop in my weighed down Gremlin, had some tasty chow, then watched football with a bunch of truckers in their lounge. Good times all around. After the games I hung out by the bathrooms for awhile chatting with a few truckers then came home.

    Went by the truckstop for breakfast this morning and to hang out for a bit. Big news again as someone took another dump in a urinal. What the heck is wrong with people?

    With all this snow in the northeast the truckstop will be packed. I have off from work Friday because of the snow and will be spending most of my weekend there. I'm looking forward to some good times!

      What are you looking for at the Truck Stop? You say you are a guy. Are you gay? Many would find it hard to believe that you are "straight" with this habit of hanging around a "Truck stop". Don't you have a library in town?

    Hey Screech, get a student loan and go to truck driving school. You can buy a truck instead of a house. Drive to different stops and be a shower deuce detective. Kind of a hobby and a retirement project all at the same time.

    Plus when you die, you go to truckers heaven. There are endless slurpy drinks and two lot lizards for every driver.

    Big day at the truck stop. Someone dropped a deuce in a urinal and then a few hours later someone dropped one in a shower! Also, the cops were here last night and busted a lot lizard. Lots of excitement. One of my favorite truckers, "Stinky", said he thinks the truckstop might shut down the showers it people keep crapping in them.

      Where is this truck stop? I didn't realize that so many truckers were into taking dumps in the showers. They must get off on the reaction of other people when they come across the feces. The police should interview everyone at the scene because the culprit is probably hanging around...

        I'm sure you're right. I only know of this happening once before and quite a few truckers laughed and joked about it. I feel badly for the cleanup crew that not only has to deal with the normal messes people make but how has to clean crap out of a shower.

    Hung out at the truckstop all day today. Major ice storm along with the nfl playoffs meant the place was crowded. Had a tasty lunch and dinner there. After the games I hung out in the bathroom.

    Thanks for all the support everyone. I feel good about hanging out at the truck stop. Tonight was a lot of fun. I was able to make it there during a snowstorm. Lots of truckers hunkering down for the storm. I got to hear some good storm stories and some tales of the road.

      I imagine for the most part the guys take showers. I don't really hang out by the showers. One time someone took a dump in one of the showers and that got the cleanup crew really pissed off.

          They had the entire cleanup crew on that one and none of them were happy. Some of the truckers were around and were making jokes though.

      I agree. I just got back and had a good time. I had a quick meal, then just relaxed and hung out. I got to talk to a number of truckers and one gave me some advice on a problem I'm having with my car. Pretty good night.

        Sounds like a good night out. Truckers are cool. I normally hang out around back of the burger king near my place. It's cool but those kids don't know anything about cars. I like it though, cos they kind of look up to me.

          It's been a lot of fun. The truckers are almost all good guys. I enjoy hanging out there. Tonight I got a nice meal, then hung out in the lounge and watched a bunch of law and order episodes. Lots of truckers discussing the storm and enjoying the camaraderie.

    Thanks Avant, I'm actually getting ready to head over there right now. It's been a bit quiet over the holidays, but I'm sure it will be busy tonight as many truckers get back on the road. I'm going to get myself some food, then hang out in the bathroom. There is always some good chatter going on in there.

        Normally I hang out by the pumps or in the restaurant area. But it's to cold right now and no one is out by the pumps. So the bathroom area which has its on lobby has become the go to spot. I also make sure to report any issues to management in case the bathrooms are dirty, the papertowels are out, or if someone goes dookie in the urinal.

            It depends on what kind of dump it is. I don't typically enjoy having diarrhea or being constipated but Smooth Moves are a different story.

      Do you just observe the people or do you interact with them?

    It's pretty cool. There are a few fast food places, a large trucker store, and a number of bathrooms, and showers. It's 24/7 and there is always activity going on. At night most trucks are parked with drivers sleeping but even then there is always people hanging out having fun.
