Is it normal that i take forever to text people back?

I have this habit of keeping my phone on silent (not vibrate, silent, helen keller conversational silent) and not checking it for hours or sometimes days at a time. this can sometime include weekends, or when i'm expecting a response, etc. thing is, eventually, i'll text/call the person back hours, days, weeks later... as if no time had elapsed. other than (or perhaps despite) this, i have a normal, prosperous social life. IIT?

    That shit drives me crazy!and yes txts are suppose to be urgent thats the point of them!whats worse is when you know they have the phone in the hand and they read it but dont answer.just insane

    You have a life. Most people would want that. But I think checking your phone at least once a day (you could do that at night) is better. You never know when people actually need you at certain moments. I used to do that, people stopped going to me when they needed a shoulder do cry and things like that. That made me feel horrible. Nowadays I don't answer txts right away all the time. I do want to have a life lol but I do check my phone some times a day and I read what people say to make sure it is or not important. =)

    I feel you should reply sooner and its better. if there is real emergency and you have taken it for granted you may lose something very important in life

    I do that too! Except I don't let days go by. It's more of a vengeful thing for me because I text really fast so I get mad when I text someone back right away and they take too long to respond to me, so I in turn make them wait. I'm not that good at it though because I'm constantly checking my phone just in case.

    I'm the same, I am SO terrible for it, I don't mean to be rude but I check the text and get completely distracted or think "I'll reply later" and as my memory might as well be non-existent, I forget. I can only imagine how much I irritate people but as joybird said, I'm sure they're used to it by now.

    Text messages aren't suppose to be urgent! It's only people with no lives that are able to reply immediately or those that are so rude, they will ignore the company they are in to reply.

    I'm sure your friends are well used to you - just as mine are to me! If they want a reply they will call you rather than text.

    Don't worry about it - live your life as you want to!
