Is it normal that i take music very very seriously?

I am a diehard metalhead. For me metal is unique in that it speaks directly to my heart and I consider it the soundtrack of my life. For me metal is a very serious and spiritual thing which is never just entertainment but something much more than that.

But I've noticed most people just listen to music as background noise without really caring about it on any deeper level.

I also am very used to everyone telling me that they don't like my music and they want to hear something else.

So now I never play my my music around other people because I know they won't like it nor will they understand it.

    it is normal, but i find it irritating when someone takes music so seriously, anyway i enjoy some metal songs

    Same! It’s frustrating because I’ll put on a song in the car as a way to communicate with my mom and she doesn’t even seem to hear half of it. Even if I tell her it describes how I feel.
