Is it normal that i think about death and can't sleep

Well, everyday, for the past 6 months, i think about death. Constantly, it runs through my head and when i'm trying to sleep, my brain won't shut off on the whole thought. I'm so scared of death and i'm afraid of getting old and experiencing it. I know it's gonna happen sooner or later, but what should i do to make the thoughts go away?
Does anyone think this is normal?

The best thing to do is to masturbate until you are totally exhausted, turn around and go to sleep!

...........no? Why not? Masturbating is healthy, it keeps the heart rate up, quickens the pulse, leads to ecstacy and you can do it over and over again without any negative effects on your private parts!

Get your mind on something else it's the only natural way. Otherwise try sleeping pills like melatonin.

I already take that medicine and I've tried thinking about something else but the thought keeps coming to my mind

Take up a hobby and keep yourself busy. What's so scary about death anyway? The way I see it - it's, theoretically, similar to sleeping. If there's an afterlife, that afterlife can be compared to a dream.

If you keep focusing and fearing death, you're going to miss the fun in life.

Unless you're suggestion masturbation, which isn't a bad idea but unlikely to solve OP's problem longterm, I can't think of any hobbies which would keep OP busy in bed at night ... can you?

I think it's normal to not want to die and the older I get the more I'm aware of this, but no-one knows what the afterlife is like, let alone that it could be compared to a dream. The scary issue about the possibility of an afterlife is that it's probably eternal ... now that's VERY scary if it turns out to be a bad dream.

Try to take your mind of things like these problems that happen in our life. Enjoy your life while you can instead of missing out the fun and worrying about dying. When the time comes, we will all die at some point in our life whether it's from old age in our sleep or from natural causes. God will be there to meet us when the time does come and God still watches us even when we're alive. My point is you shouldn't worry about this since anything can happen good or bad for a reason. I used to worry about dying when I was younger as well but then I got over it as I connected to my Faith in God a bit more religiously speaking. I'm curious but are you a Religous person?

Ok well atleast you believe in Jesus also know that he will come to this world again in the future when the time comes in the Second Coming in which I believe in. God is out there in many forms of this universe since Jesus is the Son of God. One day we will meet our Creator (God) and see Jesus again.

Talk to whoever prescribed the melatonin, you may need therapy to change this. If you bought it over the counter without any backup counselling, that's probably what you need.

Is it death itself you're afraid of, or the dying process? There is a difference, because if you have religious beliefs they will probably take care of the death issue: unfortunately nothing can take away the possibility of a painful or drawn out death.

I hope you can get some help to change this pattern, because the longer it goes on the more entrenched it will become and sleep problems certainly won't prolong your life and may in fact shorten it.

It's both death and the process
