Is it normal that i think ppl who believe the bible are idiots?(sry)

The bible have been changed MANY times. Look at a bible from 1940's to today's own. They are different. I just don't see how people can believe in something that has been changed over and over again. I mean what if it's all lies? Is it normal to think this?

Religion is based on astrology, the Bible is an astrological handbook... The Sun is personified as God and Jesus, that's why 'God' is worshipped on 'Sun'day or Day of the Sun, the Hebrews worship 'Baal' on Saturday or day of Saturn, then Monday is day of the Moon, in Italian it's Lunedi 'Lunar'day etc, Jesus died For three days then born again '22 Dec to 25 Dec' The Sun is at it's lowest point at the equinox representing death on the 22 Dec there it stays for three days under the 'Southern Crux' stars representing the Cross he died on and the Three Kings constellation to it's West where they travelled to in the story for his 'Birth' on the 25 Dec the Sun rises from it's lowest point representing his birth... When I explained this to a woman at my work who is a literalist of the bible she started crying and shouting at me... you can't win an argument using 'Logic' against 'Emotions' she has an emotional attachment to her beliefs. The 12 disciples of Jesus or 12 Brothers of Moses are the 12 months in a year & the 12 signs of the zodiac being personified...I could go on and on, google Constantine the great, the Spanish inquisition, the great crusades, Sumer- Babylon etc. Samson is another one who represents the Sun, his hair was long he was powerful, The Sun in the Summer solstice has long rays and is powerful, when it is in the Winter solstice it's rays are shorter and weaker, the winter solstice is in the house of Virgo, house of the virgin Delilah who cuts Sam'Sun's hair rendering him weak. In the end if people want to believe in a Santa Claus in the sky, let them, it just causes more arguments when you talk to them, they have to seek the truth themselves at their own pace from within, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink it.

The bible is fictitious. I don't necessarily think people who believe in it are idiots but very naive. They need to read it for themselves. There are so many passages in the bible that are just sick and wrong that I don't see why any person in the right mind would believe in that book. There is also just so much evidence proving the bible false.

And go ahead christians, tell me to go to hell. I'd rather be there than in heaven with a god that condones slavery, no rights for women, and stoning people to death who are homosexual, disobey their parents, go to work on sunday, or don't believe in him.

I think you have to look at this not so literally. The bible, for those who believe in it, is more a reference for their faith, rather than being the absolute truth. Christianity is based on the belief that Christ died for our sins. If you take the bible as being a representation of this belief and not a literal doctrine then it's easier to look at it objectively. There are certainly many messages and verses in the bible that are intended as literal teachings, but any self respecting adult will know to understand the bible for what it is. It's more like a dictionary for Christianity, in my opinion.

I think you're giving an uninformed oppinion. Before you criticize the validity of The Bible, which scholars take lifetimes to deciefer, do reserch so you don't misguide others. The Bible has been translated, not changed. The Bible has translated with time to adapt to people's interpretation of words to help them understand it's original intended meaning. Keep in mind that it's not a book! It's a collection of various historical events that have been gathered in order to teach God's word effectively. People's interpretations of what messages are most impotant vary within cultures/ personal oppinion/ ect but the adaptations made in no way degrade The Bible's validity because the meaning is never altered. Believers in The Bible are not delusional people attempting to fill emotional needs as I feel you've implied. I think it's cowardly to sit behind a computer and give what I believe is an emotion-driven rant on a complicated and sensitive subject. Feel free to believe what you want but your question is not so much a question as it is a complaint. You're asking if it's common for others to not believe The Bible when there are millions of atheists on the planet. It seems to me that you're looking for a conformation that you're oppinion is correct but it's at the expense of the people whose belief in The Bible contrasts your own.

It's normal, the bible contradicts itself in numerous places so it can't all be true, what's important is the basic message it sends

I'm not a christian, but I am an educated man who reads. As such, the bible is the most widely piece of literature in history. That being said:
According to Genesis 17:12, an infant should be circumcised when he is eight days old. It just so happens that the chemical in the blood that allows it to clot, thrombin, is at its maximum concentrations on the eigth day of life, before sharply falling. Interesting, no?

The bible also states that the earth is round, and sits on "nothing", something traditional science didn't "confirm" until 1492.
    All lies?

Want to know something that has changed even MORE? Try evolution. At least the Bible has only changed in TRANSLATION and not CONTENT. Evolution has changed in BOTH TRANSLATION AND CONTENT. So, ask yourself this. On these grounds, if you're going to discredit something over changes in TRANSLATION, are you going to discredit evolution EVEN MORE?

We are not idiots for reading the bible, if you were smart enough to look at the pages once in a while you would know that when it changes it still puts out the same point but the text is translated into a more modern version thats easier for us to understand from the way we interpret info.

So maybe one day in stead of bashing on gods word like a hobo, you should think before you run your mouth. Thank you

That isn't what I meant, I meant god doesn't want people to blindly follow what they are told is his will, I meant I think he wants people to try to understand his will themselves, not just believe what they are told. I think it's a personal journey

And for those of you who refuse to even consider that I could be false and say we're going to hell that shows incredible shallow mindedness and god wants deep thinkers not mindless drones. Read about Cain and abel, that's where the first one I noticed is and see if you can find it yourself

The bible actually has been changed many times, it's not a different translation, my priest told me that himself after I noticed that a bible from 1920 and the same modern bible were different. Also like I said it contradicts itself, so if you believe it you're still saying it's wrong in a different place, I have read it so I would know. I still say it is the message the bible is trying to send that's important, that you should be a good person and do what's right even if the individual stories in the bible are false or have been warped over time

well like you said jess22....it is an INTERPRETATION... people can take things 100 different ways and 99% of the time they take things the wrong way and eventually after a long period of time, well its like Chinese Whispers. it changes from the original to something completely different. just a thought.

You shouldn't think they're idiots. People usually trust the meaning of the Bible, not each word. Reading the Bible is a mean to remind yourself how to live (for example being honest), if it changes it's not a big deal because everything is said at least twice (for moral questions).
