Is it normal that i use power line cuts as hiking trails?

The power line cuts go virtually in a straight line, and it can be a very interesting experience to walk down them. I can find myself travelling through the center of a vast state forest, stopping for Chinese food in a town a few miles later, shooting a woodchuck in some farmers field with my sixgun (don't go anywhere without it), J-walking across a 6 lane highway, traversing a creepy abandoned mill, back into the forest, then into a different state, all within a day. Defunct railroad tracks are like this sometimes too. Does anybody else do this?

yes, i like adventures like that. gas pipelines and drainage tunnels are nice too. it's like a time machine to when you were little and riding bicycles on the train tracks. only i wouldn't shoot woodchucks, unless you're going to eat it or wear it. i think they're cute.

I'd be worried about the prolonged exposure to the Electromagnetic fields emunating from the power lines that you are walking under, but that all depends on how much cumulative time you spend underneath them. Those Electromagnetic fields can contribute to cancer growth not to mention the herbicidal chemicals that someone like "Maldetete" sprayed underneath them. Other than that, it seems like a cool adventure.

I worked for a summer spraying chemicals on all the plants under the powerlines to kill them. It was about 100km done that summer along one powerline. Now that I think back to it, it was a pretty smooth walk, and would be real nice for hiking.

I wouldn't want someone trespassing on my property with a gun.

sounds like you haven't heard of electro magnetic radiation or the cows that die under those wires all the time. oh, and the kids that get luekemia from living too close to the wires.

  • newly dug tracts of land especially for power lines and tree plantations are good for detecting gold round these parts.

I would love to ( minus the gun, I prefer trapping) but how can u walk distances like that? No work? No bills? If so I'm envious
