Is it normal that i've never played any sports?

I don't like to sugercoat things so I'm just going to be completely honest. I'm a 17 year old male. I grew up without a father my whole life. I was raised by my elderly grandparents. The only sports I ever played was little league baseball when I was 8. I've never played basketball or football. I don't even know the rules to either sport. If I had the opportunity to play either one I wouldn't know how. I know, I know. It's sad that I don't but I was never encouraged to play any sports and no one taught me. Please tell me if this is normal?

Pretty normal. Some people just didn't do sports. And most of them turned out not to be dickheads.

Lots of people don't play any sport, what's the big deal? If you want to, it's not that hard to learn the rules and join a club, they're always looking for new members.

If you don't want to that's fine too. I hated sports at school and was no good at them. I don't even like competitive exercise classes

Not that there is anything wrong with that? no?

With so many kids 'playing' games on a computer this is probably becoming the norm. I don't think it's at all a healthy alternative to team sports, but that's the way things are going.
I believe that no longer being forced to play team sports in school, is why so many of today's youth are arriving at adulthood with crippling 'social anxiety'.
