I've tried it before. Easy in a home you've lived in for years, not quite so easy in a new and unfamiliar place :P
That sounds normal to me. I do something similar myself when it's dark and I've just turned out the light, or turned my computer off. For the first ten minutes I am blind and then only slight shapes in my peripherial vision are visible for the next ten minutes after that. I'm usually the last one to bed, so I try not to turn on the lights and I don't want the neighborhood to know that I am always up late at night. Instead of fumbling my way around, stubbing toes and trashing breakables, I memorized the layout of my home using my feet, hands and ears. It is useful.
once i was walking along the street looking thru my kaleidiscope, i was in my own world of swirling colors and awesome patterns, people dodged me and left me be until ....bang! i walked into a pole and nearly pushed my tube toy into the back of my eye, i learnt from that , keep the eyes open
I used to do this when I was younger. This used to be so much fun. It's normal. I might do it myself again.
I'd completely forgotten I used to do that. I haven't done it in my new place yet. I'm going to try it. :D
