Is it normal that i want to be a mercenary?

I am a male, and school isn't working out as well as i had hoped. I might aswell go and do something meaningfull and earn some bucks in UKR or some other place.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

My dad used to subscribe to Solider of Fortune magazine, and it kinda made him look like the crazy Vietnam veteran guy. He served two tours in Vietnam, one with Special Forces, and one with Psychological Operations. When my dad got out of the Army he used the G.I. Bill to get a Mass Communications degree, and worked at the local PBS affiliate where he was happy, but he had to go the work for the United States Postal Service, because he didn't make enough money in television to support our family. My dad never actually went postal, but he was a letter carrier.

It is not uncommon for people to be interested in professions that involve adventure, excitement, or danger. However, it is important to recognize that being a mercenary, or a private military contractor, is a complex and potentially risky profession that requires specialized training and skills. It is also important to consider the legal, ethical, and moral implications of engaging in armed conflict for pay.

While it may be normal to have fantasies or desires about certain professions, it is important to carefully consider the reality of a career before making any decisions. If you are interested in pursuing a career as a mercenary, it is important to research the requirements and responsibilities of the profession, as well as the potential risks and challenges that you may face. You may also want to speak with someone who has experience in the field to get a better understanding of what the work involves. If you are struggling to decide on a career path, it may be helpful to speak with a career counselor or other professional who can help you explore your options and make an informed decision.

Merc pay is shit by western standards. Pretty much there are two groups. Freedom fighters who get paid to be an extra gun but that pay depends entirely on what shithole country/group is hiring you. Or more rarely are the honest to god mercenary companies that take ex soldiers to be expendable political tools for doing jobs the goverment wants you to do and will disavow your existance if discovered or killed. Good money I hear but stick to maritime merchant protection rather than an open ground war.

Examples for the former are pretty much every african warlord/coup group and any group that was against isis when that was a thing.

Examples for the latter are the big names, Blackwater's the wagner group*, american PMCs, european PMCs whatever group the CIA uses.

*seeing how they are using prisoners in a suicide squad-esk fashion they really dip into the crappy merc company more than anything.
