Is it normal that i was intelligent and now i have become stupid?

When I was in high school I got straight A's without making an effort. Everyone thought I would spend hours studying but I guess thing just stuck with me, especially maths, science and English. Now that I am studying engineering, its like my IQ is negative. I do study but nothing "sticks" like it used to. And if I REALLY study, then I manage to just pass. I don't want to disappoint my parents or myself and this is what I want to do... I know people that got lower marks than mine in school but are doing way better than I am. Is this normal?

Maybe engineering isn't your thing exactly, it is a difficult area of study.

I went to a really good high school and did fairly well. In college, I tanked. There is no good excuse, but I think it's because I didn't really have any fun in high school. It's almost like I did the whole thing ass backwards: college first, then after that, high school. I'm a mess.

  • Lol thats so funny! Im kinda like that too now but I was a nerd (still am but finding it) in middle school and no matter what school was #1. It didnt take so much effort to make it my priority it was just natural. Then the worst 4 yrs come in your life (High school) and distract you. I lost my nerdyness and did pretty average but because school was no longer my 1st priority. Now Im in college trying to reinvent myself or find myself again from middle school because I miss that feeling of being a nerd and not caring what others thought. In the end, I took a look at the future, and the geeks were right BD

I used to be very good at maths and such during high school and my IQ was around 155 (according to some online tests).

But now in college I feel like an idiot O.o Understanding some of the simplest functions is really hard work. It's like my IQ suddenly dropped a lot.

So I know what you're talking about... Not sure if it's normal or not however.

Try you're hardest...see you're professors for help...skip the social events and such because that what most successful engineers do..I am doing that now...I know it's tough but it's worth it..Tutoring has helped me so much and I'm passing everything with A's and B's now...believe in yourself and you will do fine...if you're extremely interested in engineering because you love it and not because you're parents...then go for it...it's bad that you're going to study something you don't like to study or look forward to doing..
