I weigh myself throughout the day, is this normal?
After a heavy workout I can lose several pounds in sweat alone.
I think the scales don't tell the whole story, especially when dealing with muscle mass and body shape/fat.
I rely on making sure I can fit in a certain pair of jeans. If they start getting tight on me I know I should be doing more cardio and eating less cake.
I do too. Not always, but often. Like if I'm really depressed and don't eat for days, I want to see how fast weight is lost. If I feel fat I wont get on the scale til I know it wont disappoint me.
I guess so, but you won't learn anything useful because weight fluctuates so much throughout the day. Drinking a couple of pints of beer will immediately add two and a half pounds to your weight. Or a bit less if you're American because American pints are smaller.
I do this, but only to check the fluctuation. I add and lose about five pounds every day. It's normal. If I'm not doing that, I'm probably sick.
That depends on the purpose of you weighing yourself so often. If you are doing it to track weight loss, the tiny interval between weigh in's wont show much change and your might get disheartened.
Not really. Unless you're conducting some strange experiment.
But if it's just for weight loss... then you really only need to weigh yourself once a week. And even then you sometimes have to take what the scale reads with a lot of grains of salt.
Remember, scales don't understand that muscle weighs more than fat (so you can weigh say 140 but actually wear a smaller size than someone who weighs 120 because the extra 20 pounds is all muscle). And scales don't account for things like "I took iron tablets and haven't pooped for 3 days."*
* personal experience in that last one. I was weighing myself weekly as part of my weight loss program. I hadn't lost any weight according to the scale that week but I knew it was just cos I hadn't pooped in 3 days. Damn iron tablets. The following week I was down over 5 pounds cos my body finally balanced out.
For 3 whole days?!? Seriously??
Thats just not right at all. More vegetables.
What would a vegetable have done?
I had already eaten two or three subway salads. I mean not all at once, but spread out over a couple of days. So believe me I had FIBER in my body...
It's a side effect of iron tablets.

First side effect listed: Constipation :(
Lolz "I took iron tablets and haven't pooped for 3 days". You might actually gain weight with that method!
Thankfully no. I just stayed the same when I weighed myself that day - remember though I was only weighing myself once a week.
the following week it looked like i'd dropped 6 pounds in a week, when really it was 6 pounds over a 2 week period.
