Is it normal that im not a dog person

Ever since I can remember, I never really liked dogs, I was never attacked or harmed by a dog, so it's not because of trauma. I simply don't like dogs, its really that simple. Im treated like a child rapist or a murderer when im honest about not being a dog person. Ironically I do have a dog, its my boyfriends dog, so im stuck with her whether i like her or not. I'm not much of an animal person in general, but I did always like cats, probably because I know how to work really well with them. Anyone else not a dog person or just don't like dogs? I feel like people's arguments for being dog people usually goes something like this "your dog will always be there when you get home, they show you love and they give you kisses, i love that i can always know they will be there at my house waiting for me to get home", but you could say that same exact thing about a homeless guy, lol, invite a homeless guy to use your home as his own and he will be there waiting for you to feed and pet him lol, but we don't see people falling in love with the homeless the way they do dogs, whatever, done here.

I don't like dogs either. Compared to cats, they're inferior!

  • For the people freaking out because i simply said i don't like dogs, FYI, Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you can't be nice to it. Im nice to the dog I have and I make sure she's well taken care of. Just because im not a dog person doesn't mean I suddenly turn the nice part of myself off. You can be caring to something even if you don't necessarily like it.

I love dogs, I mean, I love cats too but sometimes the holier than thou attitude pushes from loveably smug into annoying, but mostly loveable, but dogs, there's really a sense of attachment there for me,

My cat frank for example, he's my favourite and I his, he's on me constantly, greets me in the morning, purrs when he sees me walking down the stairs etc but there's still a sense that if I stroke him too much or too little he'll get pissed off and take his valuable affection elsewhere

Whereas my dog molly, I was 3 when we got her and 17 when she died, so I couldn't remember life without her, I felt there was this loyalty and wholehearted love and affection from a dog that I personally find you don't get with cats, it almost felt like she treasured every second of everyday we had, for every ball thrown ( or not, she'd search for it anyway ) every time she curled up on you and fell asleep, every moment being part of a pack

Now, I'm going to stop before all this saccharin stuff makes me sick, and sad

  • For most of my life I have enjoyed dogs. However, I haven't much recently. I still live with my parents (until I can save up enough money to leave) and we have a 2 year old beagle.

When we first got her she would only use my room to go to the bathroom when were not home (she wasn't potty trained yet). Normally I would shut my door, but at times when I didn't I was the first choice.

Whenever I tried to pet her she would growl at me even though I fed her each morning. It seemed like when I had to study she would always go to the window at bark for 45 minutes.

I just consider her demanding and don't really have time for pets, though she is my mother's and not mine. I have school, work, clubs, helping with my grandmother and don't really want to help take of the dog but I have no choice. I liked her when we first got her, but now I can't wait till I don't have a pet. One day I may change.

I used to be friends with a girl who had this beagle. That silly, little bitch was so stupid and couldn't even sit on command, but she could beg really well for food. She would get up on her back legs, and beg like a pro. My kitty knows more basic dog obedience than that poor thing ever knew.

Hahahahahah! I have to laugh about the homeless guy analogy. Funny and true. Actually, I'm a "dog person", but don't see anything wrong with someone who isn't

  • People want to hate you and dislike you no matter who you are and no matter what you say. The moment someone doesn't like any animals at all, they are treated like a horrible person. But even when someone adopts animals (like myself) and takes care of the animals and gives them a home and all their needs, we still aren't good enough because god forbid we actually do have certain animals that we get along with a little better. You treat everyone like shit, even people that bring pets into their home and give them a good life, if we don't do "this" or "that" we are still shit people. Lol oh well. fuck me, fuck you, fuck us all.

Fuck this bullshit, I'm bipetual! I have a very loyal, affectionate and dog-like cat. The only reason my cat and I don't have a dog is, because I have some health and financial issues to deal with.

Dogs and cats, just like people, aren't mindless robots. Different breeds have different temperaments, and they all have their own individual personalities. How would you like it if someone said to you, "all women are alike, they're all stupid and selfish"?

Whatever you do don't expect your man to give up his dog for you, and when his best friend dies let him grieve her. Don't expect him to not get another dog on your account, don't be a selfish, nagging bitch. If you genuinely cannot stand dogs then let this poor man go so that he can find someone worthy of his time and love someone who accepts him and what he loves!

    • you can't accept the fact that people in this world exist that don't like the same animal you like, you became very rude, immature, and disrespectful because im not a dog person. I'd hate to see how you live your day to day life when encountering people that have totally different belief systems from you. Don't know which religion you are, but you probably shit yourself when you encounter people who say they don't have the same beliefs as you. People like you have a hard time in life then blame the world because you don't know how to accept the fact that there will always be people in this world with different perspectives and different likes and dislikes.

    • thanks for being super negative :) i said i don't like dogs, i didn't say i hate dogs. I take care of the dog, especially days where im off work, i make sure the dog's taken care of , given treats, comfy, and happy. Just because a person doesn't like something, doesn't mean they can't be nice.

    • You read one paragraph by me and then try to act like you know my whole life, lmao what a fucking joke. My boyfriend and I own a dog and cat. The pets get along very well and for the most part they are both good pets. My boyfriend and I both take care of both of the animals. Both pets in the home are well taken care of. You're an asshole with a very limited mindset.

Your obsessive, multiple and caustic replies to my one comment, not to mention your accusatory inability to stay on the subject at hand demonstrates alarmingly disorganized and over emotional thinking. Please take your psychiatric medication and go have a nap.

When you come here and ask if something is normal or not there are people who will sympathize with you and those who will disagree that is the nature of asking for others opinions. Its not my fault or concern if you're only interested in opinions that validate and reinforce you and your beliefs.

    • wow, reality must really suck for you, breaks your pathetic little heart that people with different opinions actually exist in this world. God forbid someone doesn't have the same favorite animal as you, how old are you, 12? you're a childish immature pig. Fuck you you pathetic piece of shit coming on my post disrespectfully.
