Not just sweetheart. Honey, sweetie, babe, all that stuff. Especially when we're not even dating. At all. It's beyond irritating, and I have to make myself perfectly clear that I hate being called pet names, which ruins the friendship.
Sigh. Is it normal?
Look princess, what should people call you if they don't know your name? Now where's my beer woman?

I don't like the word "sweetie". I don't mind the others, honestly. But I just find the word "sweetie" to be very, ugh, just annoying.
It's pretty patronizing. I wouldn't have it either unless the guys was my boyfriend !
i hate that too! men think they are so awesome! well how awesome will they be when my fist makes contact with there face! they need to respect your wishes and not call you that. i tell them off... GRRRR
For some reason, when anyone says something like God bless you, or I'll pray for you, or something like that, I want to slap them across the face. I also hate it when anyone hits on me.
It's normal to be bothered by it if you're not dating. It's rude. If you're in a relationship, I think they should respect that you don't like it if you tell them that. They might accidentally slip up sometimes, though.
It doesn't bother me if they're just being nice. But it's normal. In the southern US everybody calls each other pet names, it's just a custom there.
Aww, I think if they mean it then it's nice:). Maybe you could try to see it as a compliment, which is what it should be. I don't like it when it's used in a degrading or condescending way, though, if that's what you meant?
I think it's probably normal, some people just don't like that sort of thing. My reaction depends entirely on who calls me it really, sometimes it's sweet, sometimes creepy, sometimes annoying..
It's normal. Most people I know (male and female) get pet names but they are pet names that are specific to them only. I think that's okay. Generic ones are just... blah! Although I do quite like them when I'm affectionate with someone. being called darling is very nice.
