Is it normal that keep hearing a voice?

I think there may be some spirit or something that's following me around, and it's really scary. A few days ago, I was reading at night and there was a voice that started talking to me. It said, "How long has it been?" And I didn't know what it was talking about but I was so scared. The next day I thought it was a dream, but I heard it again at school. At night I was in the bathroom and facing the mirror. It was dark and I couldn't see, but when I was about to turn on the light, I suddenly got really scared to look at my reflection because I knew I would see something horrible, and I ran back to bed. I thought I heard some laughing. Whatever I do I keep hearing the voice giving me advice, and it's creeping the heck out of me. Please give me some advice on what to do!

I'm a schizophrenic and there is always someone talking to me, espically when no one else is around. Talk back to them, you'll never have a more interesting conversation.

It doesn't necessarily have to be evil. Don't run from it, embrace it. Find out what it wants.

  • You could have schizophrenia as with that illness you can hear voices in your head telling you to do things or talking to you that are out of your control. I would check with a doctor, just to be safe.

  • Ok it could be a figment of your imagination or an hallutionation from stress. no matter what it is dont ignore it that could cause mental issues. but do not go to a doctor.

  • This sounds scary, but its a very rational (Logical) thing to do.Simply ask it what it wants, tell it to PLEASE not harm you,ask it if its there to hurt you,if it wants too, simply tell someone or move out,or tell ask you're parents.

Talking to them just reinforces the delusion in my opinion. I decided to ignore them all together and I hardly hear them at all now.

The safest plan is to assume the voices are in you're head. They are not real. I just lately realized that I hear voices. For me, it's a mental illness.

I had heard voices for years but I could differentiate them from hard reality. I thought of it has telepathy. Hearing other peoples thought. But then something happened where I was hearing people in the apartment next door. I thought that there was people there only to find out that the apartment was empty.

You can validate the voices however you want, but chances are they are a delusion.

"Whatever I do I keep hearing the voice giving me advice . . ."

What sort of advice does it give you? If it advises you to bake a pretty cake, then--by Satan's forked beard--hop to it!
