What has ever happened to English civility? A population united under the values and helpful friendliness of a sovereign figurehead? Refugees arrive from the war torn Middle East, and Northern Africa. Now everyone, especially women, carries a folding knife for protection? Is this normal?
It is statistically unlikely to ever get attacked in western societies. With that being said, i think everyone should be trained to fight. With that being said I think everyone should be trained and equipped with blades and firearms. Just not the crazies.

The U.S. has schizo shooter problems. Many Americans say it's a minor inconvenience. Americans must be free to defended their homes with lethal force to uphold their constitutional rights.

Don't know the figures but for what it's worth CS sprays are pretty much standard carry for the police in the UK now. Police carrying Tasers are rarer but still commonplace. I see ARVs (armed response vehicles) quite frequently as I live near some major arterial roads but still in a village/town with a population of roughly 4000 in middle of nowhere.
The ARVs consist of two standard firearms officers in what are usually huge engined BMW x5 or 5 series carrying pepper spray, a Taser pistol & a Glock 17. In the boot of their vehicle they keep 2x mp5s locked away just in case. All the forces have other specialised units if needed.
It’s inevitable that all the police will eventually be armed in England.
It’s was a quaint practice then, unrealistic now. I’m sure they have an armory back at the station anyway.
That's pretty much the same amount of fire power that a well armed American home has got, from what I hear.

It used to be that Marrakesh was the best city to prove your superiority in a knife fight. But, London is now edging out the old capital of flash and blood.
Not normal. The U.S. population has always carried firearms to deal with unruly illegal immigrants since 1776. Your dreamy paradise had to end sometime anyway.
my state passed a law last week , anyone over 21 can open carry guns without an interfering permit. under 21 can automatically carry if they are armed forces . Under 21 can open carry if they have fire arm training safety classes. you still need a drivers licence , thats not a right not protected under US constitution.
Would you rather people not protect themselves? I used to carry a butterfly knife. I certainly support 2nd amendment rights here in the United States even though I've never owned a gun of my own.
I don't believe in having so many immigrants. Western countries need to thoughly vet people. We need to be tougher on crime.
My intent is to make no suggestions. Perhaps, the higher fear level in London will deter violent crime, perhaps not. The weapons you American women carry are not relevant to this post. We don't care about your 2nd amendment. Additionally, your tough on crime position has nothing to do with a well knifed populous here on the Sceptered Isle.

I don't know anybody that carries any kind of weapon. It's shocking how many people have been shot and stabbed recently, the vast majority of victims and attackers were guys.
I thought you wore your sister's panties whenever you went to the pistol range.
