Is it normal that many of the posts i ignore get a lot of comments?

Sometimes I end up looking at them after they get 20+ comments just to see what's so interesting. Usually I'm disappointed, sometimes it's worth it. The questions that are interesting to me get the least comments. I don't think I have much in common with you guys anymore. IIN?

And you all better not say it's normal because most of you gravitate to the same posts.

IIN doesn't get much traffic these days and the few posts that have 20+ answers mostly contain long conversations between two or three users.

It's because it's easier to just give up, the 4-5 "popular" users just down vote anything they don't agree with or isn't a back and forth ass kissing or politically correct nonsense comment.

It's easier and more fun to just troll.

I'm a fucking narcissist. I try to stay away from posts with a lot of comments and post on stories with little to no comments because I want my shit to be read, damn it.

Also, sometimes I will find a personal sounding question and will type out a good-sized and heartfelt personal response but 9 times out of 10 will end up just not posting it because a lot of it is stuff that I won't even tell people closest to me. In some kind of weird fucking way, I kind of pride myself on being able to or at least willing to try to keep my weaknesses to myself.

For the sake of providing a sincere answer to your post, I'm not going to erase THIS one and I will try to practice being feelsy here... also it is the beginning of the new school year and a lot of the people who use this site are teens and summer is kind of gone so...

Seems like either the voters and commenters are different people, or else we have two very separate "crowds" here, which is something I've always suspected owing to the same kinds observations you've made.

I think most people (the crass and cretinous majority ^_^) gravitate to sex-based posts, incendiary posts, and obscure/random/unintelligible posts, but the minority of what I'll call "core*" users comment upon the more thoughtful/sincere stories and polls. The core group likes to reflect and to consider their comments before posting. We enjoy healthy discussion/debate. You'll see the same 50-80 or so (probably a vast underestimation) usernames over and over again on the less popular stories and polls. You're just 'one of us' I suppose.

*By 'core' I mean those of us who don't join, post (flame/troll) three times, and quit. We're the people who have been here for years.

Thanks for telling everyone how to vote, now everyone can gravitate away from this post and not worry about it.

I am sorry, I have no idea what you just said. If you can write your posts in English, I have to believe you can respond in that language as well.
