Is it normal that my 13 year old brother still throws temper tantrums?

My little brother just turned 13 and he still throws temper tantrums. This morning he threw a big fit because he had "nothing to wear" to church. Slamming doors, screaming that he wanted to die, lashing out at my grandma who was trying to help him. I'm sick of hearing my mom and brother getting into stupid shit because he's being a brat. Will he ever outgrow this? IIN?

Some guys n even girls do that late in their teens too. Hope he matures later in life.

How long has he been like this? He might have a mood disorder. Take him to a therapist to make sure.

I was going to say that this was normal... then I read the description.

^^ No one did anything until he shut up. We already don't care. I know grown men complain too, but do they cry about it? >.<

Stop pandering to this brat! If he hasn't sorted out his clothes then he can go naked, or stay at home. Feed the brat herbal Kalms tablets to calm him down and a bit of tough love wouldn't go amiss.

I've told mine that once he's 16yo the police come and remove him. It's the law that he has to leave my home :o) He is hanging on by his finger tips - coz he's not 16 yet and gets straight As to try to prove how good he is. Yeah right!!

Reverse psychology is always good eg. who cares if he's no clothes for church (or whatever) except him? Duh! If you shrug your shoulders and say you don't care it should eventually dawn on him that nobody gives a shit about his trivial crap!!

If he hasn't grown out of this by the time he is 15-16, you probably want to get him some help.

Yeh he will as he will mature in a few years he is just being a brat i was the same way but he will relize he is being a brat and start to be calm. I was like him at thar age and what made me stop is saying lifes to short to throw a tantrum and to hard dont put more stress itcwont accomplish any thing exept tiredness. I was his age now im 15 and just keep on saying it to him he will relize that its true and he will when he goes throw puberty and such so keep on sating it and he will relize trust me or heres a faster suggestion the old smack in the head its not abuse if the welt goes away in an hour but dont hit to hard to leave one just hit him in his arm or such he cry to mommy or daddy say i didnt do it or just deal with a yell abd every time he tell s hit him again and a bit harder he wont tell and bet he wont throw tantrums if u know whar i mean ;)
