Dip 'em in balsamic vinegar and let them dry in the sun

I've have whole music collections destroyed by this, before digital. I've tried everything (except the vinegar) with no success. I would have them professionally (they have better equipment than most non professionals do) transferred to digital media ASAP, if they are really important to you.

Some tapes are sensitive to high humidity and may start to break down. You can "bake" them to dry them out some, but a lot of the damage may already be done. I suggest putting them in a dry environment for a bit, then transferring the audio to another medium ASAP.

whatever they said is what they said. I'm assuming it's because they pay for the samples and wherever you live is too far to ship a sample.

Sticking? You mean the tape has melted to its adjacent layers? Yeah if that's the case, it's shot. You could try using that red bottle audio cleaning component. 4d or whatever it's called. I'm pretty sure u can put a dab on the cotton headers on the cassette and it will lubricate the tape and inside as it plays. But if it's already stuck, ur fucked.
