Is it normal that my best male friend hides our friendship?

we both have been friends since more than 1 year. he says i m a god gift to him and that he feels lucky to have me as his bestie. but he haven't told anything about me to his friends or anyone. No one from his side knows that he is having a strong bond of friendship with a girl which is me. Is this normal? Why he hides this?
He once said that even if he have a girlfriend someday..he wouldn't be calling her his girlfriend..he wud like to call her his friend only. Why is this so?? he doesn't want to give the name tag of girlfriend to his girl, why? This question is just bcoz i m curious to know the reason thats it !!

    By reading this, I get the impression he likes you or something... I know probably you are reading my comment and being like *NOPE:)* But I used to have a friend that told me that if he had a girlfriend he would call her his friend. He was really nice to me and one day without even expecting it, he asked me out... I don't know if it is the same for you, but I think you should just enjoy your friendship and wait to hear some answers when he is ready...

      well, i wont disagree with u..may be he likes me. My friend is nice to me too ! But can u please explain a little more as what could be the reason he said that he would call her his friend only even if she is his girlfriend.? Like in ur case..it sounds almost the same like me. So what do u think, why did ur friend might have told u that, when he already knew that someday he will be asking u out?

    Maybe he is like me, and doesn't have a lot of "close friends" like that? Also just because he came up in a conservative household means nothing as far as that goes...

    Could it be he in a steady relationship already.or has a wife nobody hides a best friend from their family unless they have something to hide

      no we were schoolmates so he isnt married nor he is having any girlfriend..he is single. he belongs from a conservative family

        U mean his mum doesn't think your good enough for her son we all go through that 1 .after we were married his mum and dad refused to visit they only came around after our first child

    Are you fat? Easiest explanation is that if you were attractive he'd be in a romantic relationship with you already. Or if you are having sex and you just aren't getting commitment from him, you are being played and should find someone else.
