Is it normal that my cat is pissed off at my parents?

What happened was my parents thought it was a joke when they stepped on her tail.

Everytime when my parents steps foot she begins hissing at them violently.

Now I have to separate her from my parents so she does not end up scratching them.

How should I calm her down?

Sounds like you should just keep her away from your antisocial abusive parents.

Your cat is the only sane one in this discussion. The rest of you are absolute bitches, including you for even asking this.

    Fyi cat tails have bones.

Yeah, they should definitely do everything in their power to prevent themselves from ever deliberately harming the cat again!

There's really not a lot you can do to change a cat's mind once it decides that someone or something is a threat. And if your parents are such dickheads that they deliberately stepped on the cat's tail, then it sounds like the cat's conclusion is the right one.

If they were to completely ignore the cat - not even looking at it - the cat might eventually calm down. But you shouldn't be surprised if it's always wary of them, and you definitely shouldn't try to force the cat to be with them if it doesn't want that.

Did they step on the cat's tail on purpose? If so, your cat is just reacting normally to being abused.

Are you saying your parents stepped on the cat's tail deliberately as a joke? Or that it was a genuine accident which they then couldn't help but laugh at? If it's the first one then they deserve to get scratched to shreds and you should keep your cat away from those scum.

If they "jokingly" deliberately stepped on the cat's tail, they deserve to get scratched!
