Is it normal that my cat sleeps a lot

My cat sleeps several hours a day in my sock drawer or sometimes in other places. At first I just thought it was cute, but now I question if it's normal that my cat sleeps so much. What does she do at night? Sleep more? Play?

Cats spend most of their lives sleeping. The same goes with dogs. Do you play with your cat? Boredom can attribute to sleepiness.

I like to play with my cat, or at least try to. Often she is not in the mood to play, and will not chase the ball or string, or other things. Thanks!

Well, if it gets enough food, does it ever need to do anything other than sleep till it's hungry again?

they are dozing. They are the single most efficient beasts when it comes to waking up from sleep to fully-alert state that exist. That is, their "boot-up"-time is most efficient in regards to their body mass. They are also predators. Low energy use.

Besides, they have servants. Like you. So why should they do anything. They sleep, play, eat, and cuddle up(if they feel like it). La dolce vita.

I heard cats spend 2/3 of their life asleep, so nothing abnormal there :)
