Somenormie here and I love it when my catfish hides and then looks at me, he loves doing it every random moment I think he's cute when he does it.
Not only do I feel attached to my catfish but I think sometimes he likes to be quite sneaky he loves hiding and looking at people.

I thought this was going to be the return of the unpleasant woman from a while back who - as far as I can recall - was engaged in a weird catfishing/stalking campaign against some pathetic ex of hers.
I've never really been able to relate to fish as individuals, but I recall reading a while back that researchers have found that some species of fish are much more intelligent than is commonly believed. Which might not be saying much, I guess, since most people assume fish are really, really dim. I suppose it's possible that your catfish is doing things just to keep himself amused, but you seem to be suggesting that your fish looks at you from his tank and understands that you're more than an object that it has come to associate with the appearance of food, and it actually understands you are a living creature capable of thoughts separate to its own. That's called the "theory of mind", and very few animals have been shown to be capable of that level of thought.
animal crossing is a really fun game, it's a relaxing and chill game. the newest one new horizons you basically live on an island with the animal villagers and slowly have to build up your island.
there's tons of other stuff you can do too like fishing, catching bugs, digging for fossils, etc. you can decorate/customise your island and house and stuff.
