Is it normal that my dog is scared and nervous of being outside

my dog who is about 3 years old is scared of pretty much everything she gets nervous twitches, cries and even the shakes there has been times where she gets so scared she has opened a window and squeezed through our burglar bars. she will be laying in the garage most of the time when these episodes happen and she will only calm down once she is inside sitting by either me or the rest of the family. is this normal, does any one know why she is doing this or any suggestion s to help her our??

    Whatever scares her try to condition her to think it's a good thing. Give her praise and treats when she displays good behavior towards something that scares her. Also don't feed into her "bad" behaviors and stay consistent.

    Is it only when you leave her alone? She could be either A) afraid to be alone bc something happened (a cat, raccoon, or kid perhaps), or B) she is having separation anxiety, which is very likely if she was never independent as a puppy.

    Definitely talk to the vet or a licensed trainer. This sounds more like a confidence issue than a discipline issue, and for her happiness it needs addressed.

    you might want to consider talking to a vet or pet obedience instructor about how to address this concern.

    Dogs don't invent weird fears on their own. But with careful training and consideration you may be able to help her cope and feel comfortable and safe.

    Make sure she's not being tortured by neighbourhood kids. There may be noises that you can't hear that are scaring her too.

    I have a timid dog but she was abused and rescued from the pound.
