Is it normal that my dog watches me on the toilet....

when i do a wee, i dont bother closing the door, neither my husband or i care but when we poo, we close the door.... anyway ..... we got a new puppy nearly 12 months ago, a border collie. he is so beautiful but he freaks out at the smallest things. he is so curious when i do a wee, his ear prick up and he tilts his head when he hears my wee hitting the water and he just stares at me and when i am done, he gets all excited and jumps around and growls and wants to play. he does the same with my husband. i have never met a dog that does this. i have had to close the door but he still sits there, waiting patiently for me to come out and gets all excited.

    sometimes when i'm pissing into the toilet, my dog literally walks right up to the toilet and stares at my piss hitting the water, it's incredibly off putting

    It's totally normal, and now that I think about it, I see my pup do her business every time I take her for a run. I guess she is just returning the favor when she follows me into the bathroom. Haha.

    Every day after work I get home and have to pee, and he CAN'T WAIT to hang out with me. When I'm sitting on the toilet he'll put his head on my lap or lay on the ground, head on paws, and watch and wait.

    totally normal. many times the dog forces itself to pee where you just did (impossible on a toilet though). this behavior is common for dogs (dunno about cats). that shows that they accept you as their leader, who has to tell where to pee.

    Sometimes my audience is both cats and my dog. It is quite funny watching them watching you. And yes, like an above poster, one of my cats will jump on my lap.
