Is it normal that my heart races and I start to shake when I have a knock at the door (extremely bad when it's a hard knock), when an unrecognizable number calls me, or loud abrupt sound just as a fire alarm.

    Sounds like PTSD. This is one of the symptoms of PTSD - hypervigilance.

    I used to get that when people knocked on my door or buzzed my apartment when I lived alone. Hadn't had it in ages until I was at a hotel recently and the phone rang unexpectedly. I'd stay completely still, try not to breathe. Horrible feeling. I put it down to anxiety. It's probably something you should talk to someone about.
