Is it normal that my kitten stays in my bathroom 24/7 ?

I just got a 9 week old kitten last week and shes scared of everyone in my family and ran to my bathroom when I brought her home. She doesnt come out! And when she does come out she runs and hides from us sometimes she goes all day hiding and we can never find it! I never get to see or hold my new kitten! I need advice from someone that has cats. Is it normal for a kitten to act this way?

My kitten lived under my bed for the first 2 weeks I had it. He eventually got used to coming out, even more so when he realised he wasn't getting any attention by living under the bed! Make a fuss of her when she comes out the bathroom and not so much when she's in there, that way she'll realise that bathroom = no fuss.

    • My 8 year old son sits in bathroom and feeds it and plays with it and trys to bring it out sometimes. I leave my bathroom door open at night when the rest of my kids are asleep so it can come out and play. Last night it crawled in bed with me! :)

Give it a month, it will be rubbing against your legs and nibbling your toes in the living room in no time.
