I stopped believing in God when I stopped believing in Santa. I believed in them both without more proof than what I was told. When one went, they both went. To me, its the same thing.
No offense to you or anyone. Just some insight to the other side. Don't worry. It won't make her a bad person. She'll find her own things to inspire her life. Support her. If you don't have faith in her, how will that make her feel about you? She has a right to soul search and draw her own conclusions. She'll come around if that is what her heart says. Otherwise she can't fake believing.
It will be okay. :)
Did she turn 8 before telling your mom this?
I was around 8 when I stopped believing in Santa too.
Oh wait it's not about Santa?
Oh well not much difference anyway :D
Its normal for people to have their own beliefs. If she doesn't believe in God, that should be her own business.
Totally normal. My younger brother said this a few years back and it made me feel very weird, i can't really describe the feeling. But now I doubt God's existence myself and at the very least truly dislike religion.
I dont think anyone knows for sure, I hope your family is not being cruel about her decision to change her mind.
She was probably having a bad day. I say, talk to her about it if you want to know why the sudden change.
It's normal. I stopped believing in him a few years ago. Be supportive of her decisions.
Totally normal. Rates of Atheism increase with each new generation. And for one simple reason: as time has gone on, younger generations have had ever increasing access to the Internet, and information about the universe around us. As we learn more about it and see the evidence that the universe is expanding and came from a Big Bang, and that life did evolve, it becomes less plausible for Gods to exist, and so we are less inclined to believe in one, or to follow a religion. As such, your sister is simply following the trend of people preferring logic, reason and provable fact over unprovable superstition.
