Is it normal that people fist pumping me makes me feel awkward?

I never got the whole idea of fist pumping that's why I never do them in the first place everytime someone does it I feel very awkward of doing it. I get it people do it because they're trying to be friendly but I don't sit tight with the whole fist pumping thing and maybe it's just my social anxiety when it comes around to these things.

Not sure if any of you relate but these are my genuine feelings about it.

    Its less formal than the traditional handshake. Kinda casual. Like hey what up *fist pump* and yall dont talk again.
