Is it normal that people randomly ignore me?

Ok, first of all, this PISSES ME OFF. I'm talking to someone, anywhere from best friend to mild acquaintance, and somebody else walks up to the conversation. I'm chill with this, even if I usually don't know who the heck this person is. But then- then the person I'm talking to starts talking to the person that just came up, usually while I'm in the middle of a sentence. That's normal, I'm still ok with that, these people are probably friends and even if I don't like the other person, it's not my business.

BUT THEN.

The person I was originally talking too COMPLETELY IGNORES ME. I usually try to not interrupt them, but even when I do, they still ignore me! After about 5 or minutes of not being able to get their attention again and FINISH our conversation, (including trying to interrupt their conversation without coming across as rude) I get fed up and leave the vicinity. And as far as I can tell, I'm the only person this happens to. If I confront the person afterwards, they always swear they thought I was done talking or something.

This is the one thing that really pisses me off, which is hard to do. IIN? Does it happen to other people? And why do they keep doing it??

Yep happens all the time. I just want to focus on something that happened to me when I was pregnant I would try to be interested in what people were talking about but I just couldn't focus. Now maybe some peoples brains are like that permanently. I have had people completely ignore me as if they are deaf. So rude but on the upside u can just think hey this person is a bit off instead of it being Ur problem.

Well... it's probably because you are just extremely boring or you talk in one tone or very slowly.

If it's none of those, then do what I do:

"Excuse me, did the middle of my sentence accidentally interrupt the beginning of yours?"

Sometimes you just have to be an ass in order for another ass to understand your ass.

    • Hah! Clever reply. I'll keep that in mind for when I'm really ticked.

Conversation is tricky. You make your point, but then you say something that will give the listener something to respond to. Good flirting works this way as well.

I think this has happened to me before, when I was younger.

Some people are just ignorable. It's usually because they're passive and unassertive. People aren't ignoring you on purpose, they just sort of forget you're there or put you on the back burner when somebody more interesting and engaging comes along. The fix is all up to you. If you don't change your personality, you'll be ignored for the rest of your life.

Man I hate being ignored and yet I hate being noticed too. Weird.

    • He, I do that a little too. It gets really aggravating at times though.

Are you long winded and or redundant in your speech by any chance?

    • Not really. Sometimes I'm even in the middle of answering a question the first person asked me, so they should want to be paying attention to what I'm answering the question with anyway.
