Is it normal that several traits from my horoscope doesn't fit me?

I decided to check my horoscope recently, a few traits seem to match me but many don't. I'm a Sagittarius and it says "we" are hilarious but I'm not the type to joke around at all. I'm not very sociable (but occasionally can be). It says "we" don't fulfill promises but I do keep my promises. Does anyone else find that is doesn't match?

It's normal that it doesn't fit you. Horoscopes are a load of crap.

Really? The fortune-tellers were wrong? Who could have ever seen this coming?

Only a fortune teller could foresee this

Let me tell you a story about a pair of twins. The celestial alignment of one's birth conditions almost couldn't have been more similar than between them.

One of them died at birth.

The other one became Elvis Presley.

Astrology is utter BS. There's nothing to it, not even a tiny little bit. Utter BS.

Astrology is BS. Most people flail around when they're young trying to figure out why they are the way they are, and the personality descriptions in astrology books can seem like an easy answer (as well as an easy excuse for things we don't particularly like about ourselves). Those descriptions are very carefully worded and designed to make the target audience feel better about themselves. Random chance, the fact that most people really aren't all that different deep-down, and confirmation bias come into play, and people end up believing they've gained some profound insight into themselves.

I can't recall the details and I can't be bothered to Google it, but I recall reading years ago that there has been at least one serious academic investigation into the validity of zodiac sun signs (what most people call their 'star sign'). It took the generally accepted personality traits of each sign and compared them to the results of well-established psychological personality tests on the test subjects. It found no correlation between the two.

My recollection is that it did find some weak statistically significant correlations between personality and birth month, but the intriguing thing was that this was flipped for those born in the northern and southern hemisphere. So it could be that there are some small differences between, say, winter and summer babies, but it seems this will be due to seasonal influences on the mother when she was carrying the child, and/or the new-born infant.

Since sun signs are exactly the same in the northern and southern hemisphere, it's clear that the inherent personality differences between people born on different dates have nothing to do with where the sun is from Earth's perspective relative to a bunch of random stars that are light years away from us.

Horoscopes are fake personality theories. Naturally everything won’t fit, because they’re tailored to fit everyone.

  • A more authentic astrologist than myself would explain how you're more than your star sign. I would say read through your star chart, like what each sign for the planets and moons et al mean, or maybe just the ones that interest you. When I started I was sceptical and was only curious on a superficial level, but have found my star chart to be at least 70% accurate. I'm also really keen on like, the idea of starlight and moonlight being involved in like a biological or psychological way.

Check your rising sign. I'm a libra and we are supposed to be really social but i'm an introvert with social anxiety lmao.
However my rising sign is pisces and I relate a lot to that.
I do relate to the traits of libra a lot too, just not the "social" and "popular" bits and pisces tend to be more emotional but also closed off. Together my sun sign and rising sign explains my personality perfectly.

Your a unique individual. It's fun to see where you align with, but don't let something dictate who you are.

Look, It is normal since most people think that horoscopes are false. I myself also think that, but that doesnt mean that you have to try and tell that to the ones who have beliefs in that. Doing that would be kinda rude since its their tradition and belief.

Well according to my star sign I’m “the emotional heart of the zodiac” and my Capricorn ex should have been my soulmate. It’s almost like it’s not to be taken literally.
