Is it normal that some atheists bother me a little too much?

Sometimes thay complain about us shoving our beleifs down their throats, but then thay bash me for saying something god related and i think it bothers me more than it should

Ignore atheists who treat their beliefs as absolutely right. Ignore anyone of any religion who treats their beliefs as absolutely right. If anyone thinks their position is absolutely right and nothing could ever change it or challenge it, they're wrong.

They say we're intolerant while they're saying all religion is bad and should be banned. Yeah, they're really tolerant.

I'm an atheist, and yes, they bother me too.
Though it's important to note that a lot of these people are actually anti-theists, not purely atheists.
    Anti-theism =/= atheism.

Only the ones that think they are better than everyone because they are "rational" and the ones that try to shove Atheism down peoples throat and judge those who have religion. Especially when they get pissed when religious people try to shove religion down their throat then they turn around and do the same thing with Atheism.

I don't have this problem too often and I live in California.

I DID date one fellow who literally used every reason to turn a discussion into a religious conversation. "My brother in law is trying to get a PhD in music studies!" "Did he go to BYU?" "I don't know." "Don't you think it is funny that BYU is named after Brigham Young and" -goes into rant about how all Mormons are ignorant lunatics who believe that men landed on the Moon in 1846 or some shit.

"Man, I love fried chicken!" "It's because you're from the South." "Yeah, we love our fried chicken :D" "You guys like incest too! Which is perfect because you're also a Mormon!" -goes into ranting about some bullshit with incest and how Mormons do it constantly and some shit about the south too. Whatever.

I wouldn't worry about it. Most of the atheists I know literally do not give a fuck what I believe and don't give a fuck when I talk about my church or say things pertaining to God or my religion. To them, it is just something that I do, like the way I like to talk about Star Trek or my love for fried chicken, and the line is drawn at my being an ass to THEM for THEIR beliefs that they talk about as well sometimes and I reciprocate.

However, most of my atheist friends are mentally stable adults, so it's not a problem.

There do seem to be a few atheists on IIN who are extremely rude, arrogant, and (a sad combination) outspoken. They are full of incorrect assumptions about believers and hold mistaken, misguided views on religion. I generally just ignore them.

Most of their ad hominem attacks fall miserably short of the target for me personally, as I don't fit their naive, uneducated view of what a "religious person" is like.

I wish IIN had a facebook-style "block" feature but until that happens, I just consider them trolls (a.k.a. a particularly cowardly form of bully) and move on.

Oh and before all the atheists start attacking me, note that I said "a FEW atheists". I'm not speaking about atheists in general, for whom I hold no ill will.

A few decades ago, if you said anything against religion someone in the room would lash out at you. Now it's the other way around. People like that are closed minded and intolerant; things both sides accuse the other of. Pay no mind to loud-mouth hypocrites. They just don't know any better.
I went to high school where there were a lot of devout Christians and atheists (among others). Only once in a blue moon would any of the Christians say something having to do with their faith, but everyone got along regardless. There is a preacher, though, that goes to the courtyard at my university and tells everyone they're going to hell. Him, I don't like.

I hate it when people are so stupid they don't even realize they are doing exactly what they preach against. Whether they are atheists, religious, liberal, or conservative. I can't stand ignorant hypocrites of any type.

Yessss. It's so contradictory. It's like why are you trying to persuade me to stop believing in something you don't even believe in in the first place? Why do you even care?

I have a problem with people that shove their beliefs down your throat whether they be atheist, christian, or scientologist.

The fact is we are all people are very firm in our beliefs. So we should shut up about it and be polite.

I do have this problem. Don't worry about it. Just remind them that you have the right to believe in what you want, and know that what they're doing is wrong.

They are simply following the crowd. Right now religion is not popular so they will attack it. In older days most people followed religion so no one would go against it. You know how mindless this generation is. They just follow the fad.
