Is it normal that the misuse of "awesome" drives me crazy?

"I'll call you later.(response)"Awesome"
"That's an awesome shirt"
"How was your burger?" "Awesome"
Everything can't be awesome. Take a look in the dictionary once in a while

Other words irritate me. "Nice, sweet, and golden" are three I can think of at the moment. Another word that I feel is overused, "Hero". The news refers to ANY man or woman who served in the military as a "hero". I served my country and did what I had to do. I am NOT a hero by any means.

Honestly, I've never heard anyone use the word "golden" in that way. I'm already annoyed, and I've yet to come across it XD

      I agree about hero.

That's how I feel about the word amazing.

I agree. "Amazing" is so overused now that it's already almost completely lost its original meaning of "superb", now it practically means just "OK". A gorgeous harvest moon, that could be amazing. Your soy latte? Definitely not so. XD

Hahaha... yeah, some douchebag starts talking at a dinner party about his amazing wife and how we all are gonna get to meet her and then this plain Jane chick comes schlepping out. For amazing she had better know some some tricks with grapes or goldfish.

        Thank you or surreal....over used

Hahaha... Epic is pretty overused but amazing is more of a douchebag word.

I hate when someone describes some random person as amazing. Spiderman is amazing, circus performers and sideshow freaks are amazing, but the average person, not so much.

I use "awesome" more than I should. Sorry, not sorry. It's not a big deal to be optimistic here and there.

Awesome has nothing to do with optimism

"Awesome" will continue to be used the way it is currently used. It's a better word than "bomb," so let's just be thankful.

There is an epidemic of misusing words as adjectives or adverbs. Super and awesome are NOT adverbs! "Awesomely" is more acceptable, but even that's a stretch. But I can't stand how all women now use "super" instead of very. You can't be "super hungry" you idiots! You also can't drop the "ly" from some adverbs. That sure as hell didn't go "perfect", it went "perfectLY", LY I TELL YOU! (:

I concur. Mangling adverbs is not cool. Your comment is awesomely understated.
