Is it normal that this was front page news

a few weeks ago, the front page of the British tabloid newspaper called the daily star had a story on the front page that went something like this.
"top gear production crew go on on 12 hour bender. new top gear presenter Chris Evans and the rest of the production crew went out and got drunk from approximately 1pm to 1am. they drank beer, wine, whiskey, vodka and cocktails. they then went home in taxis."

the picture was of Chris Evans getting into a taxi. top gear is one of the biggest tv shows in the world and their production crew consists of about 30 people so obviously they are going to be drinking a variety of different drinks.
is it normal that they thought this was the most important piece of news from the whole day, given all the wars etc that are currently happening?

    It's called a PR article. Not all advertisement in papers is labeled as such.

      Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more common. Many news outlets will take a PR press release and essentially cut & paste it like they wrote it. And of course, the further you move from serious news sources (cough, cough...) the more it seems to happen.

    I just googled it and it turns out there are 100 people in the crew and he went to the chippy on the way home.

        That's what this place is like. Since I don't ask questions or polls or whatever I don't know what sort of options the OP has. I had no idea they could delete posts. Hard to imagine what the upside is to such a mechanism.
