Is it normal that threatening situations scare me after they happen?

When I'm in a threatening situation I keep my cool. I've been a few, ranging from personal threats, to animal threats. When this happens I speak calmly, I don't flinch, I keep myself calm to try and relieve any tension. That being said, when I get home, I have a near panic attack. This morning, I had an encounter with a dog who was nice at first, and then had some kind of flashback and started snapping at me. I kept cool, went about my business, and at the time it didn't bother me. Now I'm home and it's freaking me out. I don't know why this happens, or if others feel the same way.

In frightening situations, I panic immediately, calm down to resolve my situation and fret about it afterwards, I wouldn't say I panic or re-live the situation again. I guess we all have different ways of coping with trauma. This calm is beneficial in such situations, so that's a plus.
