Is it normal that u.s. americans are obese?

Just heard report that more than 65 percent of Americans are obese.
I also heard a joke about what it would be like if Americans had to become refugees. All these fat (well fed) people trying to flee their own country.

It’s Bc our actual quality of food and the food available is shit. When a fast food burger is cheaper than a bottle of water, there’s clearly something wrong with the system.

Did y’all watch supersize me? Dude literally became addicted to fast food.

Also I decided my new “diet” was just watching my 600lb life. I’ve never felt sexier 😂

I have never been to America, but my husband used to live there and I was really shocked to hear how cheap fast food is, how prolific it is, and how massive the portions are. I know the world loves to take shots at the average American for being fat, but you can hardly blame people when the place is geared towards to overeating massive portions of unhealthy food without even having to get out of vehicle. I think the rest of the world would be just as likely to be fat if they were put in the same situation.

I read an article where a photographer photographed kids around the world and what their daily intake of food was. For the kid in india, they said that a whole healthy meal , fruit, nuts, veggies, even meat, just cost them $3 a day, but to buy a pizza hut pizza was $15, which most families can not afford. Its no wonder we’re so fat when butter and deep fried grease is like $1.99

Portions are huge at restaurants unless you go to one of those upscale rich people restaurants where the portions are tiny. I assume thats how all restaurants are in europe. Usually you can go to a restaurant by yourself and spend $12 on lunch and you have enough left over for dinner. But where they get ya is the tips. You gotta pay the waiter. So its not really even cheaper unless u get it to go.

This is very much true. In fact do you know what moat shelters offer the homeless? They off pasta, bread and cookies. I mean you can eat it but it likely gonna make you very fat if thats all you eat

      • Dont abuse the shelters.
Im not talking about the obese homeless people that you you speak off. Im sure they are happier being fat than hungry.

If you've gone hungry u would know that 'unhealthy ' food is way better than no food. There is no comparison.
There can be no debate. If you continue you are a troll or thick or worse, a thick troll ;)

It’s also because nobody exercises anymore. They drive to the corner store and pay big money for exercise equipment that just collects dust instead of taking a walk in the fresh(?) air.

The times I've been to Europe the one thing you notice is there isn't nearly as many fast food places. That's not an excuse. You still have to choose to eat that crap. But I understand how people fall in to that trap.

Just one guys opinion here, if Americans ate more CUM.
They would be way more healthier & happier too.

Heathy food is expensive, unhealthy food is cheap. And the rules and regulations made towards American food industries aren’t as strict as they are in other countries. So our food is more unhealthy too.

It's not their fault, it's literally the food availability and they actually craft the food to be as addictive as a drug. Also Americans have high stress so combine the two and it becomes a cocktail for obesity

Its in a lot of first world countries. Ive seen a lot of fat british people as well. I think a big reason in America is food is really cheap and people dont have self control. We are taught that its healthy if we eat 4 times a day when its really not considering what we are eating. I think its sad and shouldnt be accepted.

Re:The cheapness, thats abig factor. In South America, depending on the country, you can buy a good proper lunch/dinner for the price of a Mac Meal,

You mean from a restaurant? If you go buy groceries you could get a pound of beef and a pound of broccoli about the same as a bigmac cost as well

        • Never bought a Macdonalds in Brazil but just checked price BigMac R$20.40
          P/f = R$ 15
A p/f is a meal, fresh rice , beans , pasta, often potatoes, veg and meat. When you order choose type of meat, if you don't want pasta or whatever just tell waiter dont want... give me extra .....Obviously possible for veggie get a good meal too - probably cost even a bit less! if you ask when u order.

Yeah its probably cheaper but you gotta factor in the wages are a lot less there also. For our wages food is cheap in the US compared to most places in europe. Ive heard Australia has cheap food as well

Can confirm (at least for the south) there're some biiiiiiig bitches here. I'm 280/290lb's & i'm pretty much average weight here give or take 20 or 30lb's (though i'm taller then the average person here at 6ft3, So I suppose i'm slightly healthier).

I hear cheap fast food is going to be changing. McDonald's paying 16 to 20 dollars an hour has got to effect prices.

Part of US problem is they are too money hungry, nobody cooks at home.
It's just faster an easier to pick something up on your way home from work (Pre covid). That's why delivery services went wild and grew so fast with the pandemic. No one knew how they were going to get their meals.

Here we have extended families and nobody tells Mama they're not eating her food. Even if we don't have the family, we like to cook and make our own meals. It's kind of a right of passage.

Foods fresh and we walk to get it.
Yep, there are fat people here too but not as many.

Groceries are so cheap that food producers compete by putting a subliminal level of sugar in everything. It gets impossible to keep your glucose down. Pre-diabetic A1C levels are running rampant over here. Additionally, cheap corn derived high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has replaced cane sugar. Non-alcoholic fatty livers are everywhere.

That's right Dr Tommy, it's a public health disaster. Don't BE like America.
