Is it normal that when i was young, i made up stories in my head?

I think it's normal to make up stories when you're young, but I remember that when I was around 7, I'd walk around our small garden in circles for hours watching my own mental movies, and it would feel like I'd been sleeping the whole time once I stopped. I would be out there walking for at least 8 hours on some days. Do other children do that? If not, what do you think was going on?

I probably spend more time living in the imaginary world I've created for myself than I ever do in the real world. I've heard that some people never develop an imagination and that many others lose theirs as they enter adulthood. I feel sorry for those people because they must lead very dull lives.

I not only made up stories for hours on end i used to tell them out loud and record them on cassettes tapes using things around my room to make sound effects so i could listen to it after.

Rofl I did that all the time as a kid. Still do. Daydreaming is wonderful. I usually do it dozens, even hundreds of times a day... For hours at a time. And mine are usually really awesome... Like, epic battles between gods, exploding stars, being a super genius and developing all kinds of awesome stuff, and more. And quite often, I wind up going from one daydream to another, usually based on something I had thought up in the one before. I also daydream a lot when reading books, magazines, news articles... Anything. My imagination has a life of its own. Literally. Sometimes, though, it gets to be too much and my mind starts to unravel just a wee bit. I think I'm slowly driving myself insane. Then again, I thin I already am. And that everyone else in the world is insane, as well...

  • Thankd guys! The main thing i thought was weird was how long i would do it, but the meditation theory sounds right to me.

I have a hard time focusing sometimes when i'm doing something boring. I find it much more entertaining to slip off into my fantasy world where flowers are 20 feet tall, aliens rule the galaxy, and i'm just one man, doing my best to resist the powers of evil. -_-

  • I do this all the time. Its how I keep my sanity intact.

If the stories that you create are posted to an Internet site, like this one site called Isitnormal.com and they are just made up stories like you said, well thats called trolling.
