Is it normal that xanax doesn't work on me anymore?

Hello everyone! i have clinical depression and anxiety and my psychiatrist prescribes me effexor xr 75 mg.Xanax 0,5 and haldol solution 2 mg.In the first months of my therapy xanax was working but not anymore only effexor and haldol are working on me.Do you have any experience with xanax? are they working on you? excuse me for my English i'm from Greece.

    You should grind them up and snort them.much more effective

    Hey...you have to take the good with the bad. Just don't crunch em up and snort em. Horrible drain.

    Agree with @Neuroneptunian. It is possible to develop tolerance to Xanax/alprazolam. However, please please please do not take medical advice from the internet. Any advice on what drug to take and what dose is likely not from a doctor or nurse as they are legally not allowed to give specific advice online. (I am a veterinarian which makes me totally unqualified to answer your question despite a knowlege of the pharmacology involved)

    Short answer - go talk to your psychiatrist and don't listen to anything anyone (including me) on internet forums has to say about medication. Good luck and I hope that you feel better soon!

      Thank you for the answer.I think it doesn't work on me anymore because i'm stressed about my fibroid surgery.I'm not abusing xanax though.I take my medication as my psychiatrist told me to do.

    I did the same thing with amphetamines, but getting a higher dosage would be a bad health risk.

    You developed a tolerance to Xanax. It's actually pretty easy to do. Tell your doctor that it's not working so they'll either adjust your dosage or meds altogether.

    halidol do you have schizophrenia? xanax usually only an occasional thing or else it wears off and you have to up the dose but i wouldn't recomment that ? depends what you mean by not working. if the effexor is working then why do you need both

      He gives me haldol because i have obsessive thoughts.When i say xanax is not working i mean that i still feel anxious.Effexor is working great for my depression and i don't feel sad at all.

    I pop that shot to get high. My favorite are the white ones. Ask yo doc to proscribed a higher dose.

      I told him that it doesn't work anymore and he told me to relax and that i am very anxious.He also told me that i might get addicted to xanax that's why he doesn't prescribe me a higher dose.
