Is it normal to ace a test on accident?

Recently I took this math test that was rather difficult. In the class, we have 2 hours and 50 minutes to take the test, and I took 2 hrs and 45 min! It was extremely hard for me, and no, it was not multiple choice. Almost all the questions were word problems, which almost everyone can agree that they suck! And when my math archer was handing them back, it said I had gotten a 100% on it. I thought it was a joke, I couldn't see how I could do that well on a test I had no idea what o was doing for half of it! But, I really aced it, and I have no idea how that even happened, I hardly even studied. It can't be luck or a coincidence since we had to show all of our work and graph and shade it properly. Has this happened to anyone before? Is this even remotely normal or possible?

I wish I had your luck, I REALLY suck at the majority of things that are related to math.

i believe you, i never studied or cared and i always had the best marks, I could see some of the bitterness pouring out of some of the nerds.

You're lucky. Usually, the opposite happens to me- I do a test and think I did reasonably well, then I get my results and see that I barely passed.

Well last year we had a nice math teacher who would teach very well to everyone! But it's really funny because she made very hard tests in which I got very bad marks (I do not know the american aqualent but I think like D or E in every test)... but the exams were OK but I thought I would suck because I generally suck at math^^ In that year I got an A in both exams^^

When I studied physics, they gave a genuine final year exam when we were only halfway through the course and had only been taught half the curriculum. Pass rate for an A was 72% and 60% for a B so they said they'd half it (because we only knew enough to answer half the questions). 36% was an A. I had a stab at the whole thing and got 92%. Nobody thought it was possible so they sent it off for second marking. That marked me at 94%.

They sent somebody from a teacher's periodical to interview me. He seemed a really nice bloke until one teacher told me the story he'd written implied that the only way I could have done it was by cheating. I never got to see actual story but I wasn't happy.

Proves that your experience can happen, though. Oh, and I'm also being slightly deceptive. Some of the questions on the exam were optional and I obviously chose the options I'd already studied.

A similar thing happened to me.

My senior chemistry class. I never did ANY homework, ever. I didn't read the text. I just didn't care at all. I only went to class so that I could flirt and fantasize about my lab partner. Near the end of the year, the teacher warned me that if I didn't ace the final, that I would fail the entire year.

I was cool with my parents thinking I was stupid because it meant that I could slack off and bad grades would fit the label they gave me. But, I didn't want to face the wrath of my father if I failed a class - he was one scary fella. So, I spent an afternoon studying the text. I wrote the test the next morning.

Before the class got back the test, I was called into the vice principal's office. I had received the highest mark in the class (somewhere in the mid-90%) and they were accusing me of cheating. Looking back, I can understand why, but at the time I was a bit offended. I pleaded with them to allow me to take it again to prove it to them that I didn't cheat. They didn't make me take it again and I didn't fail the year. Phew! Disaster averted!

At the end of the class, I told my lab partner that I had a crush on him (mostly his legs though, but I kept that to myself). He didn't feel the same. I was bummed out.

Blah! People just can't cope with the idea of our brilliance. I did chemistry too and my lab partner (so to speak) was a hairy, male, heavy metal-loving bullshitter. Can we maybe pair them off so you and I can be lab partners?

Oddly enough, the person I deal with most closely at work is a hairy, male, heavy metal-loving man who has both a degree and a masters in chemistry. True story.

I get on with anyone, but I don't have much chemistry with hairy, heavy metal men. I'd rather do some experiments with you.

I'll let you do some experiments on me too, if you want. :)

  • Yeah that happened to me when I took my sociology test. I thought some of the questions were quite difficult - seeing as how I didn't study (which I rarely do anyway) and I actually had to learn everything that was in that unit test by myself...the teaacher had to reteach the rest of the class the unit they failed AND they only gave me like 1hr 15min. to do it. I answered a lot of questions but I missed out a lot as well. Well anyway I left the room and I was like "Yep I failed...well hopefully I at least got a D+." then I got my paper back and I actually got a B! Needless to say I was over the moon. Turns out the questions I did answer, I got all the marks for them.

So in essence...part of it is luck...the other part is just your knowledge.
