Is it normal to always be prepared for the end of the world?

Hi, I read alot of books and a couple of books have made me think... is it normal for me to be prepared for an apocalipse? I mean, I wrote my full plan down on a couple of sheets of paper, on my laptop and as a file in my BlackBerry. I just feel more secure that if anything will happen I'll know what to do... Sort of.

Is this normal?

People have been predicting the end of the world since mankind saw the first bolt of lightning and nothing has ever come of it.
There is NOTHING you can do if the world ends..it ENDS for everyone. No point in keeping your best outfit and a box of plans for that day..Go out and enjoy life...because it is ending for a lot of people right now..accidents, starvation, old age, sickness..today is the end for them..and it may be you tomorrow..so go out and live your life.

That's sounds very stressful. Relax and plan a holiday and give yourself something to look forward to
    It's much healthier

There is no apocalypse, the world is not going to end for a very very very very very long time, not until after we're all dead. Everything you hear about apocalypse is nothing but hoax.
Those books that you read are a ridiculous scam. Those jerkoffs are just trying to scare you into wasting your money to buy their stupid waste of paper.
Just chillax, you don't have to "prepare" for anything. The world is not ending and nothing is going to happen. Besides, if something was actually about to happen it would probably be talked about all over the news. Since they thought Michael Jackson's death was such a big deal.

In 1983, 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the U.S.

In 1992 fewer than two dozen of these extraordinary creatures own and operate 90% of the mass media" -- controlling almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies.

In 2000, the number had fallen to six. Since then, there have been more mergers and the scope has expanded to include new media like the Internet market.
So basically 6 companies control what they want us to hear. Since MOney is the main priority..........

I sincerely doubt the news will tell us what is going on. They much prefer distracting us with coverage of things like Michael Jackson's death.

But the world isn't ending. It is changing. And we should be prepared to deal with things like food shortages and economic failure. Pretending that all is well might calm the masses, but this isn't helping to solve any of the real problems the world faces.

That end of the world crap is such BS. And even if we were 100% certain it was coming, I say, "whatever!" Just let me die. Natural occurrences/events are out of our control. So preparing for it just seems ridiculous to me. If its gonna happen its gonna happen. I can't do anything about it. You can't do anything about it. We can't do anything about it. When your time is up, your time is up. Its probably never gonna happen anyway...

I think you should just live your life not waiting to die. Don't even think about it. Just live.

  • You have 80 years to live this life. Don't choose to live it being afraid of a future that is uncertain at best.

I feel that there is nothing wrong with being prepared. You can incorporate preparedness into your everyday living. Have you stocked up on canned goods? If they're on sale, why not? Feel free to use them though, don't just let them sit and avoid them.

I'm in the same boat, I've planned on making a cottage in the woods, but it will be fully functional and be a cottage as well as a getaway in the event something happens.

There are things you can do as hobbies, like archery, that would be functional in a post apocalyptic world. I started blacksmithing, but I also really enjoy it as a hobby, not just incase the world goes to hell in a handbasket.

      Good for you man.
To me just the thought of the next bill and the next rent are already sort of an apocalypse.:-[

You guys are getting it wrong..... It's not that I'm sitting in my room waiting for disasterr to happen, I am not really sure if it will ever happen within the comming 10 generations, but its just to be sure. I'm not stressed at all.
