Is it normal to always be told i'm alive for a purpose.

So I've had a lot of near death experiences in my life. When I was five I jammed(tripped on it) a window prop through the roof of my mouth nearly reaching my brain. I've been ran over by an air boat while on land. I've been thrown through the windshield of a car in one of 9 wrecks. I've been in two capsized boats. I've overdosed three times. One of which I was dead for 4 minutes. There's more but I won't drag this shit out.
Anyway people who know about my past tell me I'm alive for a reason or have a greater purpose. I'm an atheist and credit my survival to modern medical technology rather than divine intervention. Do you believe I'm here for a reason or just another turd in the herd as I suspect?

    This is interesting.

Medical intervention never saved my loved ones.

    Praying didn't save them either.

Maybe you do have a purpose. I would make most of my life if I were you. Maybe you are the one to solve the worlds ills. Or, you could just be a wonderful person who makes other people feel good about themselves. Maybe you are the one who stops animal cruelty forever. Or you save one animal that will belong to someone who is just so grateful. Im only guessing.

You have been through alot. I don't know the real answer. But it seems to me you do have a gift of survival at it's fullest.

Reading your story the question that comes to my mind is not whether you have a purpose in life but rather 'why are you so accident prone?' or possibly even 'why do you keep tempting fate?' While accidents can obviously happen to anyone, some personality types are more prone to them. Characteristics include excessive risk taking, competitiveness and an unwillingness to comply with safety instructions. Some of those incidents seem (at least partly) self-inflicted to me. Just a thought.

    I think you are.

I was 42 years old before I found my natural gift - and that was forced upon me after I resisted, and shed millions of tears.

I don't think all these near death experiences give you more of a purpose, but I do believe we all do have a purpose.

Heck, even turds in the herd are a part of the life cycle.

  • I'm not really sure, I guess only time will tell. But yeah, I think it's highly possible.

This reminds me of a guy I met who told me he was struck my lightning THREE times in his life! And he's STILL alive! I couldn't believe it!

But yeah, I think you're here for a reason. And for whatever people tell you, whether they say you're here for a purpose or not, I think it depends on whatever they believe in. A person who doesn't believe in God probably would agree with you, and say that you are just another turd in the herd, but someone who believes in a higher being such as God, is probably gonna say you have a purpose.

I don't know, but for whatever reason, and there must be a reason. You are here. Somebody or something is keeping you here, and I'd make the most out of it!

So find something you do believe in....yourself!

Live life to be the best you can for yourself, others around you will benefit. We're not here for that long anyway, and you don't seem to be ready to get off this rock yet.

If anything these events should have made you more aware of your mortality and inspire you to make the most out of life.

And whats with the issues about cats? lol

No I don't think we are just turd in the herd.

I think the reason you survived all that, is because you probably have a strong will and strong body, the will to live and the strength to continue.

Like I say: A mind of steel and a body of metal.

Some say if death doesn't want you, it doesn't have you. But I won't pretend to know anything, because that's just something the living don't understand... Death is a mystery until you reach it.
