Was watching “The Deer Hunter” and they (respectable cast of characters) were making fun of Fredo for always carrying a .38.
Just wondering if most people would see me as that guy if I were to carry concealed:
- A pistol + mags in a safe neighborhood.
- A pistol + mags in a shitty neighborhood.
- A mouse gun in either neighborhood, 24/7.
I wear a gun 24/7, but I also live on a farm in rural Russia. We get wolves pretty bad, animals get hurt, I just had to make that judgement call the other day when one of my old geldings broke his femur in the field.
Wearing a gun doesn’t mean you should go instigate in sketchy neighborhoods because you feel powerful though, or be one of those idiots who likes to flash the damn thing all the time.
No one should ever know you’re carrying, it sets some on edge and makes the atmosphere less friendly. Just keep it low and do everything in your power so you never ever have to pull it
It's not bad if people were breaking into your house and you're too scared to get them up close. You could shoot them from around the corner

If you live in the United States just know the laws ABSOLUTELY regarding self defense. You can only use lethal force when you think your life is in danger, which means you *CANNOT* point a gun at someone far away from you, like down the street, unless they're pointing a gun at you as well, and I'm not even entirely sure of that so really, REALLY look into the laws where you are.
Don't think you're a gangster because you own a weapon.
Anytime I'm with my family I have a 9mm on me. Its just too easy to put it in the holster attached to your belt. Your shirt goes over it and its hidden. Its like part of your outfit. You actually forget its there a lot. If you never have to use it than thats great but if you ever need it it's there. It cant hurt putting it on when ur with your family or having it by your nightstand at night. Police are only minutes away when seconds count.
Carrying a gun everywhere is stupid. I think less of people who do so. I except those who live rural and carry to defend from wild animals. I like guns, I have several, they have their use, but carrying one everywhere when you're not at all likely to be in danger...nah. you look like a pussy and you're more likely to hurt yourself or someone else undeserving trying to be a big man. I grew up in an area where no one carried guns, I've lived most my adult life in areas where guns are way more common. I see good and bad on both sides but honestly, the whole free guns everywhere for anyone is bullshit. Literally 2 nights ago, my neighbor, an unstable man who abuses his family, is outside shooting in the dark into the woods at who knows what at 3 AM. Nobody needs that. But nobody can or will stop him, until maybe he kills someone. And even then it's just "maybe".
Statistically people who carry guns are more likely to be involved in a shootout. It changes your attitude.
If anyone ever gives you shit for carrying just shrug and walk away. Don't get in a fight. At the end of the day it's your life. The lives of your loved ones. Don't sacrifice that because some people think there own lives aren't worth protecting
Totally normal for some people - especially if they are under threat.
Decades ago and for many years I was NEVER further than 3 ft away from a Glock pistol with the exception of the time I judged the 1996 Olympics (and no one ever noticed it).
I knew that I would not be allowed to have my gun with me at the Olympic event site - and mistakenly assumed that I also could not have it in the housing and meal area for the Officials (which was different than for the Athletes - no guns allowed in the Athlete area). Turns out that a discussion with one of the "resident" FBI agents revealed that they knew all about the death threat and the stalking I had been going through and they were surprised that I did not bring my gun to the housing area and for activities outside of the Olympic event sites. They also assured me that they knew who the stalker was and if he showed up he would be arrested or shot immediately depending on how he was acting and what he was doing.
It took me years to wind down from that. Now I am no longer so close to a handgun at all times, and I no longer worry about that person. I don't discuss if I currently carry concealed or when. That's for me to know and other people to not know.
I have a concealed carry permit but rarely if ever carry.
However, I am seriously thinking of carrying when going to places like the store. It just seems like so many people are acting crazy these days. Just read about a guy with an axe or hatchet in a NYC McDonalds.

God it was a scene. He was jumped by like 3 people first, he never hurt anyone with the hatchet, but he was definitely crazy. Ate those punches like a champ though
I haven't but crazy people just seem to be popping up all over.

Pretty sure violent crime was much higher in previous decades. 80’s and so. Think it’s just the news warping your view?
True the murder rate was higher then but there has been a dramatic increase of all violent crime in the past say 2 years. If the trend continues who knows what the fuck will happen.
Plus in the 80's & 90's much of the killing was drug trade related. Now it seems pretty random.
That's a bunch of BS and a direct feed from the controlling media.
Like most things they do, you can't say they are lying because it is just a twist of the facts.
Violent crime may have been higher by percentage of population because there weren't as many people. However what they fail to say or put out with their facts is there used to be kind of unwritten laws among the violent offenders.
For the most part women and children were off limits. Did it happen yes, but a lot of it was in domestic situations, not a person killing random women and children. Even in jails people who hurt children or women were hurt or killed by other inmates. Even the mob at times would go after rapist or child molesters, even with-in their own organization.
The violent crime was more geared to man on man. Sometimes over stupid stuff, "didn't like the way he looked at me", but normally over money or property.
Few if any families got killed in their car because they were driving too slow, or cut somebody off, and most school shootings were one on one. A person would come after a particular person. Not shoot everyone because somebody made fun of them or called them a name on social media.
So, maybe we need to rethink who's view is being warped.
