Is it normal to always hop when you shoot a basket?

I always do this when I am doing free throw or basket ball games. I cant really shoot unless im hopping in place but I always get the ball in. I always think I probably just look stupid doing this. I step forward, back, hop and shoot.

    I play basketball as well. Is it more of a jump shot type thing you are doing:? If you're just jumping when you shoot, that's completely normal, you may not have enough arm strength to shoot without jumping. Don't worry, short people and tall people alike do that sometimes. Maybe try using your arms more? Work on strengthening them? Of course, all people do have their habits.
