Is it normal to always mention religion?

How come that a lot of members on is it normal feel the need to mention that they are athiests / agnostics / Christians in order to answer posts that are totally unrelated?

Is it normal that they use their religious beliefs to justify their views?

I person's religious beliefs or lack thereof may help explain why/how they reach a certain opinion about a particular subject.

A Christian knows better than you.
An atheist is smarter than you.
An agnostic is humbler than you.

    Cliffnotes to life.

Not too sure about the agnostic one...met a few egotist agnostics in my time

People fear the afterlife and come up with wacky ideas to comfort their fears.

I haven't noticed it so much...but there are a lot of stories on here that could be easily brought to religion- I guess people use there experience in life to help the poster out as best they can-sharing ones views on religion is often quite useful in understanding where a person is coming from.
I don't see anything wrong with it.

You are still a fucking idiot. Its a set of beliefs not something you can catch. Being friends with a Christian does not make you christian. That is like hanging out with a black man and thinking "Look im black now". No you are not. Read a biology book you dumb fuck.

I see that someone clearly can't change their views ever. Just like getting an engagement ring. It just sticks to you lmao you are pathetic.

Because the first guy to mention Jesus wins the much anticipated arguement.

Shouldn't matter as long as they aren't trying to shove it down your throat... Of course that's a philosophy that works for a lot of things. Lol

I don't see anything wrong with it as long as its necessary. It can be very important to know someones background to better understand why they come to conclusions.

If a post relates to religion, or could be affected by my religious views, or lack of them, I usually mention it, to make sure that people take what I say in the context that I mean it in. I just like to make sure that I'm well understood, I don't try and use my atheism to justify myself. That's just me personally though, I don't know how the majority feel about this.

    • I just can't see why it matters what your religious beliefs are when you express an opinion. Unless it leads to a full on debate and you need to explain why you hold them, then I suppose it's of interest to people.

Yes lots of people think believing something makes them more important some how. They believe you thinking a different way makes you stupid and gives them the right to bully you. They also believe that if someone helps them bully you that them belittling your personal beliefs and customs are completely justified. People don't realize that simply having 100 people doing the same fucked up shit does not make it LESS FUCKED UP! We could have 2oo students all 16 and 150 of them are pregnant mothers. IT DOES NOT MAKE IT A FUCKING GOOD THING! Majority picking on minority is not very just at all. Simply raising a child differently does not necessarily make you a bad person, believing a different religion does not make you a bad person, and eating food your family is accustomed to be it Chinese or Indian is not bad either... We are all fucking different. SO GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELVES EVERYONE!

Peoples beliefs influence their opinions and actions, so on questions of is it right or wrong to do something, it is relevant.

FlutterHigh, a real "Mormon" would never say something like that. Gtfo, troll. And no, it's not
normal, there are other things in life besides Religion.

Daniel, as a devout Mormon, I would beg to differ. I don't know exactly what sect of Mormonism you subscribe to, but it clearly has nothing to do with mine. Please stop discriminating against my religion. As a loving Mormon father, I have seen my daughters face prejudice at every turn. Good thing they aren't as judgmental as you. Or as ugly.

Lol...find it hard to believe that you're a religious person. Haven't met too many fathers let alont religious fathers that call people 'ugly' to get their point across

I'm an American, these people saying this are obviously not Americans. I know Americans would never act like that. They must be Europeans.

Americans are some of the most annoying people in the world (I'm especially referring to the extreme christians) Everything with them is "god" related and if you don't agree with their views, they damn you to "hell" for all eternity. Trust me, I should know.

I'm from this "country" and I hate this bullshit!
One of the many reasons I converted.

You ironically sound like the very intolerant people that you claim to be in denial of!

      Cheers!
