So everytime I see a dog,cat, or any animal with a wet nose, I ALWAYS have to poke its nose or have the back of my hand touch it. I have no idea why, I like the feeling I suppose. Sometimes, I even call the animal over and *poke* "Ah! I just touched your nose!" I get kinda frustrated when they pull their head back though.

My poor cat! She just gets scooped up and I use the back of my hand to feel her nose. I get frustrated if she moves away and my husband has to remind me that "no means no" 😂.
I also put my face right up to my cats face so that her nose touches my cheek for the same reason. It's like a compulsion.
I wonder why we do this?!?
I've done the same thing since as far back as I can remember too. Though, I only do it with cold nose; they can be moist, but I care not for wet noses, especially if they're warm.
I found something out about 2 years ago that may shed light on this for those of us who have done it since we were children (of we had older siblings/around extended family members a lot). I have an older brother who has done it too for as long as I can remember, so i figured I picked it up from him. That same brother would hang out with one of our maternal uncles often (yeah, yeah creepy uncle jokes) and when I saw my uncle mess with a dog nose it hit me; this trait I thought was passed down just from my brother actually was influenced by our uncle. My son asked why I do it and tried it a few times but it didn't stick. It feels insanely natural to me, though. I now have a toddler who touches our pets'noses when I do it, but ive yet to see it solidify into an unbreakable habit, of course. Poor little animals, I feel so bad but it feels so good. I can't stop it. I put that cold nose everywhere.
Me too! Only when its cold though. Warm wet noses are not my thing. Animals really don't seem fond of this though. I honestly thought I was alone.

I lose interest as soon as their wee nose gets dry. Lol! What a weird thing to do. I wish I knew why. At least we're not the only ones. 😹
If an animal doesn't want you to touch its nose and you can get over it, it's normal.
Whenever I touch an animal's nose I say "boop".
I am crazy about noses even my girlfriend suffers with me because when her nose is cold I pull her head and grab her nose. Rub my face on her nose stick her nose in my ear until she gets mad at me😩. I use to squeeze my dogs nose put it on my cheeks on my forehead he got traumatized and never let me touch his nose again but I used to catch him out of guard lol.
i dont just touch it, i kiss it as well. its gross cause they always have their nose on the floor or on shit, but i cant stop myslelf from kissing it lol, is this normal?
I thought I was the only one! I get really upset when they pull away. I like rubbing the bridge of a dog's nose =) So cute.
i think it feels gross when it's wet but i like how a cat's nose feels when it's dry and i also like horses nose and bunny's nose.i pet every animal i see, even in the wild when it lets me
I don't deliberately touch their noses but I absolutely love it when a cat sniffs me. They do it so delicately compared to dogs. And they look like they're really thinking about it, like wine tasters.
As I said, I don't do the nose thing, but I never pass an animal in the street without seeing if it wants to be stroked.
This made me smile. I LOVE to stroke the snout of animals, and that isn't up for discussion - I don't care if it's normal or not!
Wher did you people all go and why am I finding this 10 years later!! I have literally been made fun of my entire life by my siblings because since I was a child I have had an infatuation with animal noses. Cold wet noses!! I have to poke them, kiss them, back of the hand whole 9 yards. Doesn't matter if it's a cat, dog,cow, horse... preferably smaller animals like cats. It's like a uncontrollable thing and urge I just have to do it. I dont do it with dry noses. I hope you guys are still out there, this is the only thing I have ever seen on it.
I do this only with cold, dry/moist noses. I do it so much to my 3 cats and 2 dogs that when I went to a small pet shop and pet the owners' black lab, I pet it's nose with the tips of my fingers, turned my hand around and cooled my nail beds on it, the back of my palm, then stroked it again with my fingers. I realize what I had done and apologized and she was baffled but not upset, just confused and weirded out. I love visiting my parents and oldest brother who lives with them because there's 9 dogs and 4 cats. SO MANY NOSES, I NEVER RUN IUT OF COLD NOSES AND THEY'RE ALL UNIQUE.
Some dogs will freak out and may bite. You should show them the back of your hand which they will usually lick. They just want to know you are not going to hurt them.
I do too! But only if it's soft. Or something interesting to touch, like a snake. I don't think it's perverted. I just like how soft and cute they are!
My mom does that all the time. She's not even an animal lover but everytime my dog jumps up next to her she touches it's nose with the back of her hand and that's it..nothing else like petting my dog or playing with him but just touches his nose. So i got curious and wondered why she does that all the time. I tried it but it didnt have an affect on me lol so i will never understand why you like it so much.
