Is it normal to announce you're home even when no one is home?

I do this to give my toys a chance to scurry back into the box under my bed.

yah your glad to be home, and its always manners to knock on the door to see if it is occupied it is proboly outve habit for when you do see poeple , and when you walk into your house your really relieved to be home so you have to say it proud.
