Is it normal to ask u guys for help on my car?

Okay so I have a Chevrolet pickup I think it's a 2002 and it was making a horrible noise that sounded like nuts and bolts grinding in the transmission I first thought it was the drive line so I took it in they said yeah it's a piece of crap so they fixed it and it still made the noise so then I thought it was the transmission so for two weeks I was putting in the new transmission worked my ass off drove it around still made the noise so I did all that work for nothing I think the assholes that charged me 500 dollars to fix the damn drive line screwed up what do u think it is? Is it normal to even ask you guys?

  • First...I have to say it wore me out reading that. Please make some attempt at punctuation.

    Second...don't buy Chevys. They're junk.

Third...if someone charges you $500 for a repair, and it isn't repaired, take it back and get a refund. If they don't refund, sue. You may have to pay for parts that they replaced (ask for receipts), but get refunded for labor.

Obviously, since (I think) you replaced the transmission, it's something else. Need more info. Is it 4wd? Standard or automatic? The "driveline" is everything from the engine to the rear differential. What did they replace, U-joints in the driveshaft? Does the pitch of the noise change with speed? Does it change with rpm?

Could be something as simple as insulation around your shifter...or the shifter itself.

I had a '72 Nova that made a grinding noise because the shifter was out of adjustment.

I think it's a wheel bearing because it doesn't matter how fast. Go it always makes the noise

Your problem could be a loose, or broken spring in one of the brakes. Most cars with disk brakes have an "Anti rattle spring". This could be the problem. If the spring snaps or is loose, your car will sound like someone kicking a bucket of bolts! Had this issue on my W203 C-Class. Got the spring replaced, problem went away.
However, the problem could be more serious. Bearings, hubs, diff...

500$ for a repair... That's pretty cheap. My car's diagnostics alone cost 400$.

  • It's a good idea to pull your hubs and check bearings too. They should be inspected and greased every year or two anyway. Look for marks on the spindle if it's gotten that bad. Let us know if you find anything.

  • If it's a wheel bearing, it will tend to get louder as you turn one direction or another. It would also change from a grind to a squeal as you speed up. It could be brakes. I'd recommend pulling the front wheels off & check inner & outer brake linings.
